Did you pre-purchase iris rhizomes from the Presby Iris Gardens? Or did you forget to but wish you had? This Friday and Saturday (tomorrow and Saturday, July 18 & 19), from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. you can purchase and/or pick up your rhizomes. There's a bumper crop of miniature rhizomes--25 Rhizomes ONLY $20. This is an amazing price for irises of this beauty and rarity. In addition, start your holiday shopping early: 40% Off ALL Bloom Room Merchandise-All Sales Final (no returns.) Don't miss this sale--even at full price, the Bloom Room is the bargain of the century. (For example, last month I picked up a great vinyl and wood garden tote for $4.) Next month the rhizome pick up dates dates are August 15 & 16, also from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Fran, thanks for the information and the lovely photo. I'll definitely be there to buy some to plant in the garden. Mrs. M - if you don't have irises in your garden yet this is a really great deal and it's great to have something so magnificent so early in the season.

Thanks, but we do have quite a few irises.

Our problem with the irisies is that we need to thin them out next year. They're too crowded. Also, many of them are top heavy; that is, they get 3 or 4 flowers on a stalk and then lean over, growing horizontally instead of vertically.

Anyone have a cure for that?

MM -

the Garden Superintendent at the Presby is a good friend of mine. Her name is Linda. If you stop by at the Presby, ask for her. I'm sure she'll know the answer to your question.

Thanks, VNC. I will.

where is this Bloom Room? I am there. Is it at the house to the left of the gardens?

Boom, Boom, Boom, let's go back to the Bloom Room...

Mrs. M,
Most garden centers around here sell these simple wire loop plant stakes -- we use them for our always-wanting-to-tip foxgloves. They are simple (no tying, just feed the single loop around the stem) and very discrete:

Good idea...I've seen those. Thanks. I never saw irises that grew like ours did.

My gladiolas grow sideways.
