Thanks, but we do have quite a few irises.
Our problem with the irisies is that we need to thin them out next year. They're too crowded. Also, many of them are top heavy; that is, they get 3 or 4 flowers on a stalk and then lean over, growing horizontally instead of vertically.
Anyone have a cure for that?
MM -
the Garden Superintendent at the Presby is a good friend of mine. Her name is Linda. If you stop by at the Presby, ask for her. I'm sure she'll know the answer to your question.
where is this Bloom Room? I am there. Is it at the house to the left of the gardens?
Mrs. M,
Most garden centers around here sell these simple wire loop plant stakes -- we use them for our always-wanting-to-tip foxgloves. They are simple (no tying, just feed the single loop around the stem) and very discrete:

Good idea...I've seen those. Thanks. I never saw irises that grew like ours did.
Fran, thanks for the information and the lovely photo. I'll definitely be there to buy some to plant in the garden. Mrs. M - if you don't have irises in your garden yet this is a really great deal and it's great to have something so magnificent so early in the season.
