While Montclair residents are complaining about their skanky pond, you don't want to be fishing around nearby Branch Brook Park, where lake waters are turning up dead fish. Yesterday, Newark FD was on the case. From The Star Ledger:
The Newark Fire Department sprayed water in the lake at Branch Brook Park yesterday to churn the water after 30 fish were found dead because of a lack of oxygen. The fish -- which included bass, crappie, carp, goldfish and sunfish -- were found floating on the surface of the lake yesterday near the Second Avenue Bridge.
The churning is a temporary solution to revive whatever lies beneath the waters - an aeration system will most likely prevent a future fishedemic.

Saw the whole thing while driving thru the park yesterday a.m. That part of the lake is a green stagnant mess. Good spot to do some off shore drilling to save the economy.
Sounds fishy to me!
Has Corzine made NJ Fish and Wildlife so dysfunctional that the Newark Fire Department and county park officials are the first to turn to, to protect our fisheries?
I think it was gang related
Sounds like Joey D. is off his game plan.
Pretty crappie if you ask me.
Isn't it Newark? Nothing lives long there.
"Newark Renaissance" is taking a lifetime.
WTF. As if nj hasn't already wiped out any native wildlife right? This state is a joke. Ok so its just a couple dozen fish, but damn, the jokes people tell about nj are true.
