This poster's prayers were answered--SNL opened with a disturbingly sharp depiction of the VP debate. But this week there was a Jersey twist-our own Queen Latifah portrayed moderator Gwen Ifill. Watch it in the jump...
As for the skit, they pretty much nailed it, although no one could have anticipated the addition of the YouTube Sarah Palin flute playing talent segment.

This one's pretty funny, too.
The SNL skit had me in tears!
Anne Hathaway, who hosted the show last night, is also from NJ. She graduated from Millburn High School.
Very funny!! Tina Fey is the BEST.
I would love a Sarah Palin show (and if elected, we might get one...).
But for me, the night belonged to THE KILLERS!!!!
The whole prof family watched their performance again this morning,,,,, "Are we human or are we dancers?"
anne hathaway from new jersey? from millburn? isn't that where jon stewart is from? thanks for the tip--it would have been fun to get a shot of anne on the lawrence welk show segment.
I was ROFLMAO
when you click it..it says...the video is no longer available...ahhh. too bad.
Fran, I think that Jon Stewart is from Princeton.
Wayne, you can catch the whole skit on nbc.com. I just did... for the third time today!
You can go here to see a clip of the full debate segment.
Got distracted before I hit post, so I missed banana split posting, there's the link anyway...still laugh just thinking of Tina staring into the camera with that smirk, excellent.
The rip on Scranton sent me over the edge.
"And Wilmington Delaware is not much better!"
The skit was as perfect as it gets, but I dont want to talk about that.
"There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you."
Will Rogers
It was quite clever and an absolute riot, in spots. Queen Latifah was a good Gwen Ifill; and Tina Fey... The dude who played Biden was good, also.
They are getting some great material during this pre election fiasco, I mean, debate period.
I agree about the rip on Scranton..That was hilarious..
The real debate was no more than a warm-up for the SNL version. LOL
This was funny, and not far off from the actual debate. The Lawrence Welk skit had me in tears.. (LOL)
The dearth of anything approaching genuine humorous creativity on "SNL" was summarized by the skit satirizing the Lawrence Welk Sho. Why do such a skit based on a show which ran before most of SNL's audience was even born?
Why too did the audience seem to laugh at it? It wasn't terribly funny so I can only assume that the studio audience's low standard for "wit" matches that of SNL's own writers.
Anne Hathaway's widened eyes always make me suspect she's been too much at her stash of belladonna again.
Franliscio, Jon Stewart went to Lawrenceville High near Princeton...
Just skimmed the AOL posts on Palin. Tonight, it's featuring such tasty, folksy lines as:
This is "AMERICA" land of the FREE and HOME of the COURAGEOUS and BRAVE. NO SOCIALIST WEENIES, DICTATOR COMMUNISTS, OR TERRORISTS ALLOWED OR NEED APPLY! IF YOU DON'T LOVE AMERICA JUST THE WAY SHE IS, THEN GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE! THIS MESSAGE DIRECTLY APPLIES TO BARACK OBAMA, NANCY PELOSI, HARRY REID AND THE REST OF THE FAR LEFT LIBERAL SOCIALISTS WHO ARE INFESTING OUR COUNTRY WITH THEIR MARXIST ANTI-AMERICA AGENDA. STAND UP AMERICANS AND FIGHT FOR YOUR COUNTRY!
This message was brought to you by citizens to preserve and strengthen America. God Bless America!
Thing is, when Tina Fey does it, it's funny. When Sarah Palin does it, it's sad and scary and painful.
Yeah, and if Alaska wants to separate from the U.S. Let them. then Palin won't be a citizen....Good riddance.
