Donate Used Clothing And Frozen Turkeys this Saturday in Glen Ridge! It's practically a one-stop drop-off!
First, go to your closet and look at those things that have been hanging around, forgotten, unloved. Someone else could surely use them. The Kiwanis Club of Glen Ridge and the GRHS Key Club are holding a clothing Drive this Saturday. Here's where to unload: Glen Ridge High School parking lot from 8:30am until noon.
Your donatiion of clothing for men, women, children and babies which will go to Integrity House in Newark. Integrity House is an organization that helps individuals and families by providing addictions treatment and recovery programs that support a positive long-term lifestyle change.
Just across the street, and also on Saturday, Rotary Club of Glen Ridge and the Borough Administration are collecting frozen turkeys, canned goods, and money for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
Drop-off is 9am to 2pm at the Ridgewood Avenue railroad station (now the Glen Ridge Senior Center). Details after the jump...
What you can bring: Canned goods (no glass jars), and turkeys, of course.
Turkeys must be frozen and never thawed. FoodBank says, "Rock Hard."
Donations by check are also welcome - the FoodBank will use the money to buy turkeys for at wholesale prices.

Why do the turkeys have to be rock hard?
I guess they stay fresher longer that way? Or that partially thawed can be a health hazard. Those are my guesses.
I was really sure I could come up with a clever and deliciously nasty joke here related to turkey Viagra or something, but lack of sleep has blunted my edge. Dang.
If you miss the Sat. drop off, please bring those exact same foods (including the solidly frozen turkeys) to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair at 9 Label St. (across from the defunct DMV inspection station). Drop-off times are 9 a.m. to noon on 11/23, 11/24, and 11/25. Call 746-4669 for more information.
LOL, Kate! If your turkey stays rock hard for 4 hours or more, please visit your veterinarian!
Stiff penalties for those with Rock Hard Turkeys!
hehehehehehehehehehe :)
Sometimes I really think I'm still 12 (and perhaps that's generous...) :)
I'm thinking about volunteering at the turkey drive Saturday just so I can spend all day gasping...
Oh my GOD... it's so BIG! ...and... SO HARD!!
(That could kill 3 birds with one stone, by giving the male turkey donors a little ego boost!)
Oh yeah--all silliness aside, I think it's terrific these organizations have set up the food and clothing drives. I will certainly come by to drop off some warm clothes.
