It's official, holiday season has arrived in Baristaville, kicked off with the annual three-day Deck the Halls celebration at the Van Vleck House & Gardens.
Starting tomorrow through November 22, holiday festivities start rocking at the historic Van Vleck House: the party begins tomorrow evening with the Sparklers, Ice Wine and Dessert Tasting and culminates with a music-filled cocktail dinner party and silent auction on Saturday night.
In between, shop the boutique for exquisite wreaths, trees, and decorations staged by Garden Cottage and bring the kids to see Santa. Details after the jump.
Shopping hours are Friday, November 21, 10 - 5pm, and Saturday November 22 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
This year's auction includes a High School Musical tree, autographed NJ Devils hockey stick and game tickets, golf at Trump International course. Sealed bids will be accepted during public viewing hours. General admission is $5.00, children under 12 are free.
"Sparklers & Ice Wine and Dessert" evening includes a sampling of champagne, sparkling wine and dessert ice wine. Accompanying the bubbly, an assortment of fine artisanal cheeses, and desserts will be offered to compliment the sweet wines.
Morning with Santa - get a professional photo with Santa. Elves will escort the children to the Van Vleck Education Center for a choice of seasonal crafts. Refreshments will be available. Two sessions with Santa: 8:30 am – 9:30 am and 10:00 am - 11:00 am. Space is limited and reservations are required.
The Winter Wonderland Cocktail Party will feature an open bar and light supper by Claudia's Creative Catering. At 7:00 pm guests will be treated to a special holiday performance by the all male a capella group, the Princeton Tigertones. The closing of the silent auction of the holiday trees, mantles and wreaths will be at 8:45 pm.
Reservations would be nice for all events, but they told us last minute partiers are more than welcome to pick up tickets at the door for all events. Van Vleck House & Gardens, 21 Van Vleck Street, Montclair. 973-744-4752

Bah Humbug!
am i the only one to put 3 + 3 together and assume that penguins are going to be pulling the sleigh this year? is this like another outsourcing thing? seems like it is going to be a very light load, my friends. scratch off those flat screen TVs. on the other hand, tickets to the wellmont don't weigh much at all.
Is that a Holiday Tree or a Christmas Tree?
It's becoming so difficult to tell the difference anymore!
realistic: they're auctioning off a High School Musical tree. Whatever happened to tidings of comfort and joy?
No tidings of comfort and joy for retailers this year. With the economy, we'll all be a tad claus-trophobic this year.
realistic, THAT is a Holiday Tree and a Holiday Menorah!
No....wait....sorry, a Christmas Tree and a Hanukkah Menorah....
No, wait.... A Fine Fir Tree for Christmas and a Candle holder for Hanukkah.
or, is it a Christmas Menorah and a Hanukkah Tree?
Oh boy....
IT'S A CHRISTMAS TREE !!
Is, was, and always will be !
