Volunteers prepared lunch for the homeless Thanksgiving morning. All the ingredients were donated, with a fair amount from Whole Foods. Birthdays were also celebrated, since many who come to partake of the Thanksgiving feast at Toni's kitchen do not have any family.

why not volunteer for Christmas this year?
another good place to donate to is www.njfoodbank.org
At least 37 mil live in poverty & 47 mil are without health insurance.
I asked to volunteer a couple of years ago during the holidays & was told that they needed donations & that they could take no more volunteers.
neighbor, did you donate? sometimes donating is just as god ( if not better) than volunteering. Especially around the holidays, people want to say that they gave up their time to feed to homeless. Then they show up (at 5am) to start cutting fruit and potatoes and realize that the shelter is putting them to work. Everyone still has a great time, and everyone should at least do it once, but ive seen some volunteers who act like anything they do is helpful, even if they pass up the harder jobs. Truth is, these people just want to sign up so they can tell their friends how philanthropic they are
You can also donate to the Human Needs Food Pantry--9 Label St. in Montclair. www.humanneedsfoodpantry.org
It's a small physical space, and donations (of both money and non-perishable foods) are more needed at the holiday season than volunteers. But if you're interested in becoming a volunteer, there's a place on the website to sign up, and someone will contact you.
Jimmy, Are you talking to me? Are you implying that I just wanted to brag that I help the homeless? As far as donating the answer is no. I am a single mom and at the time was working for about $8 a hour! What should I have donated? A can of beans?

Currently I am more gainfully employed & donate to several worthy causes. This is the first time I get to brag about it though. Thanks
