I am deeply dissapointed to see such a fine athlete completely screw up his life and diminish the Giant's chances to repeat as Super Bowl champs.
Burress had/has great hands, toughness, speed and elusiveness. He was truly one of the top 4 or 5 receivers in the league.
Sorry to see him go. There is a good chance he'll do some time for this fiasco. Thank God no one was killed or critically injured.
He walked into a nightclub with an unlicensed and loaded glock that didn't have a safety. He also stuffed the gun in his sweat pants pocket. Really Mellon...do we need dunderheads like that on the Giants? Like one of the ESPN announcers opined:...I miss the days when you could go to clubs without a gun.
I asked this question in the Forums but I'll ask it here as well. To the dog owners:
What brand of dry dog food do you recommend for a senior dog? (I have my reasons for asking this question. If you want to see it, visit the Forums, under Animal Lovers.)
Thanks in advance for your input.
Ultimate Christmas Tree and Ultimate Hanukkah Menorah whereabouts...
Ultimate Christmas tree absolutely belongs to Lord & Taylor in Westfield. If you have never seen it - it is a MUST !
Ultimate Hanukkah Menorah is on Millburn Avenue in Millburn about 200 feet north of Millburn High School, but on the other side of the street.
It's on the front lawn and is about 30 feet high and about 65 feet in width. Check it out on the 29th, the last night, when all 8 are illuminated, the X-mas Tree on 12/23 or 24th. On the 24th there is a surprise. Take the kiddies!
Both are worth the small ride!
Ice,
I totally agree with you. In spite of his athletic gifts, he is apparently maladjusted and a problem child. It just boggles my mind that he could be that stupid.
The weird thing is, is that he might not even care that much about his NFL career going down the crapper. He might be more concerned with his street cred and gangsta image..
Unreal.
Yes, Plaxico had great hands and all the other things good wide receivers need.
But he also had no real sense of team spirit and commitment. And really, who but thugs goes to a club (one apparently lacking a metal detector at the door!) carrying a piece? If he'd stayed home that night, we wouldn't even be having this discussion and he might still have at least the semblance of a career. Does anyone foresee him ever shaping up? And doing exactly what for a living post-football?
Mrs. M --- i feed frank Blue Buffalo dry food. Small company in CT that started making their own food when their dog became ill. They also make canned. The other canned food I use is Halo Spot's Stew. In addition, I also cook up organic chicken thighs, barley, carrots in a pot with some water and change up between kibble, home food, and canned. I know this sounds nuts, but it's less expensive than premium food. He also used to get sick often when I first got him and the boiled chicken was the only thing that would prevent weekly hospital trips.
.. the ultimate Christmas tree, of course, is the one that sits in each of our homes.
Mine has wooden animal ornaments - kitty proof.
Thanks, JG. She's not sick but I don't think Science Diet is the best food for her at her age. I'll research those brands you mention, though.
First mistake was chambering the round. Glocks do not have a safety switch like other semi-automatic pistols. Glocks have a safety trigger that is kind of glitchy.
Second mistake was not using a holster. You want to cover that glitchy safety trigger.
Glock safety trigger
Saw foot, shot same.
And why, lasernutjob-who-is-one-of-the-least-likely-folk-I'd-ever-want-to-see-given-a-pistol-permit, do you seem to know so much ahout handguns?
For that matter, why did you think the world was waiting for your advice on Glocks in the first place? Do you play with guns at home instead of hamsters?
(And yet too, mikey, you've never so much as belonged to the National Guard, right-o? I mean, for all your military and ordnance expertise....)
Sometimes I wonder what I would do if I could somehow have back all the hours I've logged reading the to and fro between cathar and laserloopdedoo.
I've been a Giants fan my entire life, and I'm certainly not happy about what has gone down in the past few days, but if there's any upside, at least with all these crime reports, I'm now learning where all these Giants live--which I always find quite fascinating. For instance, Steve Smith, who was robbed at gunpoint last week in front of his home, lives right nearby in Clifton. His condo is at Cambridge Crossing, that gated town house development you see to your right as you are getting on the Garden State Parkway just north of Van Houten, right about here. And Plaxico, of course, also lives nearby, in Totowa, in this starter home. Wonder if any Giants bother to live in Montclair anymore?
Oh, you'd just fritter them away in further hokily amorous plaintiveness to Liz, walleroo. Or on your new-found cybercrush, jerseygurl, you "adulterous" swine of a marsupial boy.
No matter how you apportion your time here, after all, you remain addicted to the site first and foremost.
I am not sure the Giants would have gotten past the Packers last year without Plaxico, I believe he had 10 catches for over 100 yards. His height(he is one of the tallest WR in NFL) is well suited to Eli, who tends to overthrow. He simply ran out, turned around and Eli threw it high enough that only Plax could reach - over supposed "Pro Bowl" cornerbacks(the guys that cover wide receivers)
Several others live (logically enough) in East Rutherford and Rutherford in condos, complainerpuss. They often gather at the Park Tavern in ER for what may be the area's truly best pizza.
Plax was good, but sadly he's now gone as far as football is concerned. I hope they make an example of him and lock him away in a dungeon.
I'm not addicted. I can stop anytime I want.
Then stop and do the cause of real, nom-wimpish wit a big favor.
I train hamsters to shoot guns. You found me out.
Actually, laserbuffoon, you were "found out" years ago, the first time you burbled that someone was your favorite epithet, a "neo-Nazi." (I think it was directed at me.)
Right, I think it has something do to with your statement "war of civilizations" which is a thinly veiled reference to genocide.
If, as many argued at the time, last summer's high oil and gas prices were the result of greed and manipulation, then are the current low prices evidence of generosity and manipulations.
As a recent Exxon/Mobile shareholder, I am getting itchy for my bailout soon.
No, little addlepated laserlad, it had to do with your considerable lack of literacy and intelligence, resulting in your need (even shown this very week) to lash out at people whose arguments you can't refute with your pitiable mental "arsenal."
Thanks for the tip about Park Tavern, Cather. I've been meaning to try out this place for years. And I see on the menu they serve a clam pie--not easy to find around here.
"addlepated"
Now THAT is a $2 word!
Tony Randall meets Eric Estrada
(in the later years well after "CHiPs")
Everyone drink!
Just checked the Wellmont website and noticed that Dark Star Orchestra just went on sale. They are playing the Wellmont on December 30. I'm not a fan, but I remember a bit of interest a while back, before the Theater was open, when I mentioned they were scheduled to play.
"nom-wimpish wit"
Please explain, cathar.

Laser,
I beg to differ- 1st mistake way buying the gun...
Football is for dopes.
We switched to science diet food for our cats at the vet recommendation (I don't see it would be different for dogs) and noticed a significant change.
The cats are 16 & 17 and, since about a month after the change, act more like much younger cats. Neglected toys were shredded in no time and needed replacing. I was impressed with what the change in diet did for them.
Rugby is a real man's game. Football is all armor and tights and funky dances...keep spending your hard earned money on high priced tickets and watch them piss it away on dogs, guns & drugs...Major league sports...ya gotta laugh!....>(;o})8====PAZ in FLL
must be a comfort to be so vastly superior.
You're right ROC...Jocks are superior...ask any cheerleader.
If it's not about money, ROC has no use for it.
I think RoC is a pragmatist with an ironic sense of humor. The fact that a lot of threads here come down to spending public money isn't his fault.
Paz on the other hand is equating people who think butting heads is literally the best way to go with people who make spelling corrections by putting whiteout on the monitor screen, and concluding this is reality.
I'll stick with RoC.
Ok,PoKey.....Whaaaa?
Paz, I was just reaffirming your superiority.
Jocks and cheerleaders rule, yeah.
Maybe, Plaxico should have put some whiteout? on his leg wound, I hear it's good for blotting out stupidity. Jocks rule!
Calling somebody "wimpish" is cathar's way of saying that he admires a person's ability to handle complexity and nuance. Here's a sample sentence: "Einstein's paper on general relativity was wimpish and impotent compared to ROC's grasp of economics."
Calling you "wimpish" is the same as calling laserboy dumb, walleroo. I mean that I think you try to be a sort of mild-mannered and well-meaning Bob Newhart type making lame-o attempts at humor here here and he's the village idiot.
It's as simple as that, honest.
It has come to my attention that a lot of people think that their option for using renewable energy is to install solar panels or a wind turbine on their house. It seems many people don't know about the New Jersey Clean Power Choice Program.
You have the choice to replace all the power you use in your home with renewable energy for an extra 1 - 5 cents per Kw/h. You just send them in this form and the charge shows up on your PSE&G bill - It says "an extra $5.78 to $9.10 per month", but in our two-bedroom apartment the charge is more like $3-5 per month. We signed up to have the power we use replaced by 50% wind, 1% NJ Solar, and 49% "Low-Impact Hydro" by Community Energy.
For more information and to request a sign-up form, you can call 800-515-5353 or go to NJCleanPower.com.
5 additional cents per KWH is a 40% increase so, uhm, be careful with that if you are on a budget.
I'm sure Obama will talk them out of it, right?
That is the plan, yes?
"global consensus" a few strongly worded memos from the UN, no big whoop.
Ban Cathar. Ban him now. Don't look back.
I asked this question in the Forums but I'll ask it here as well. To the dog owners:

Go to Pro Pets in South Orange - its a right off of South Orange ave. The owner is a pet nutritionist. He'll be able to set you up with an adequate diet for your senior pup. Throw in some fish oil and a joint supplement.
Thank the gods, Montclair doesn't have an influx of gun-toting gangstas with a lot of money. Let them stay in those McMansions ala Real Houswives of Atlanta.
Loves it - shot himself in the leg. Like Ralphie - you'll shoot your eye out~!
We had a pet nutritionist once, but he would try to kill our pet cosmetologist all the time. And not knowing about Jeffrey Loy or having a cattle prod ourselves, we had him put down.
Let me know if you need my dog behaviorist as well. One can never be too rich or too yuppie.
Thanks, Ackme and others who answered my query. Boy, things have certainly changed since I was a kid and we just put the food down for Fido, never questioning what was in it. Now we have dog nutritionists, high fiber diets, low fiber diets, added supplements...gee, my dog eats better than some people I know.
One thing seems to keep coming up, in the research I've done on this and in talking to people: dog foods containing chicken by-products (NOT chicken itself) and/or corn can be irritating to some dogs, especially dogs with food allergies.
I had a dog when I was a kid, and she was fed Gaines Burgers. I don't think they make them anymore. Probably wouldn't make the cut with today's dog foods, but my dog lived to be 18 1/2. She developed lung cancer at age 13 and went into remission for 5 1/2 years without any treatment.
I remember those! They looked like real hamburgers!
Repeat after the Iceman:
Hack Liberal politician
Ice: Is that a suggestion of what I should feed my dog?
"Hack Liberal politician"
Ok? Feel better?
Ice: Can cats eat that, too?
no cats need finely minced liberal politicians...
p.s.
I was happy to see Ariane win last night. Despite being off to a slow start she's doing better. I'm surprised there isn't more B'net coverage.
Is there something I should know? Am I a patsy for thinking she has a chance?
no cats need finely minced liberal politicians...
----------------------
PURRRRRR
Yes, corn = bad.
We feed Innova Evo by Natura Pet. The ancestral diet. No grains.
Actually, Republicans are better for cats who require more fat in their diets than dogs.
Geez...so now all Republicans are fat, in addition to being old, incontinent, and in nursing homes.
Correction: SHOULD be in nursing homes....
Well. Look at Cheney, Rove, W, Rush et al.
Compare to Obama, Rahm, Biden.
I doubt you'll ever hear Bush saying "arugula".
Correction: SHOULD be in nursing homes....
-------------------
It must be comforting to all the Democrats out there to know they will not age.
"W" is fat? Or is Biden young?
Oh, Jerseygurl your cognitive dissonance is showing again.
And Obama's ears stick out!
> I doubt you'll ever hear Bush saying "arugula".
I doubt Bush could pronounce "arugula".
"Aruluga"
-G.W. Bush
I doubt Bush could pronounce "arugula".
----------------------
Yeah, but he's not fat.
Only between his ears.
George Bush is not fat. And he was featured in Runner's World magazine a few years ago, clocking a 7-minute mile. Not fantabulous, but not too shabby. Can Bill Clinton run a 7-minute mile? And running to McDonald's doesn't count.
"Arugalow... Arooogigilu... Gigigigack.... Lettuce."
-G.W. Bush
Only between his ears.
------------------------
At least his ears don't stick out.
If GW Bush was elected because he's not fat and his ears don't stick out, I guess we got what we paid for.
ROC, no dissonance. I just said they are fat. Nellie suggested old and incontinent.
And W is a porker. I don't care how much he jogs.
Nellie suggested old and incontinent
--------------
Just referring to prior posts from the libs here
If GW Bush was elected because he's not fat and his ears don't stick out, I guess we got what we paid for.
----------------
And now we're going to have:
M-I-C-K-E-Y
I want to plaster those ears down with cement.
He is a supporter after all, Nellie.
I've wanted to plaster W down with cement for 8 years.
Maybe Plaxico will have time to do some landscaping now. That yard is in serious need of some flowers (and possibly a retaining wall).
Wow, I'm glad I could link to that, ROC...Usually, I can't get into the linkages from B'net.
P.S. ROC, some of us were busy watching the Victoria's Secret fashion show last night and haven't yet seen this week's installment of Top Chef. Try not to spoil too much, okay?
R.O.C.,
For some reason, the one that is 5 cents per Kw/h only replaces 15% of your total electrical use.
The ones that replace 100% of your total electrical use are 1.3 cents per Kw/h. Our total PSE&G bill is usually around $50-60, and the extra charge usually falls in the neighborhood of $3 or $4 per month. It's not too much to pay to use 100% renewable, "clean" energy.
Jerseygurl...repeat after the Iceman:
"hair plugs"
Thank you...thank you very much....I'll be here all week.
Amandala,
my last bill lists .11 as the cost per kWh.
1.3 cents more is an increase of 12%
5 cents is an increase of 45%
Yes, ROC, it's either a 12% increase to your total bill
or a 45% increase on 15% of your bill, which is not the same as a 45% increase.
In any case, if you're paying something like fifteen hundred bucks a month in rent, and your utility bills are around $50 a month, an extra approximately $4 per month - which is what it works out to for us - is, as I said, really not that much to cough up.
