If you have a collection of bridesmaids dresses or never-to-be-worn again prom dresses and feel like you need a new year's wardrobe cleansing, we know where you can put the frocks to good use.
Catherine's Closet is collecting new or gently used prom dresses and bridesmaid's gowns during their winter dress drive. The non-profit, started by Sandy Kessler in Wayne, has been providing mentors, internships, scholarships, and affordable gowns of course, to high school girls since 2002.
Essex County College's West Essex Campus, at 730 Bloomfield Avenue in West Caldwell, is a drop off site for dresses and accessories this week from 9am-5pm. Bring donations to the main building, admissions office. For more information, call 973-877-6590.
Catherine’s Closet is dedicated to the memory of Catherine Johnson who was killed in a tragic automobile accident in 2002, the year she was going to graduate. Catherine was chosen as valedictorian of Clifford Scott High School in East Orange. To date, 6000 gowns have been given to underprivileged girls to help defray the cost of attending their senior prom.

It might benefit them if they extend their hours at least one of the days to allow for the working folk to be able to drop off any donations.
I dropped off 5 dresses yesterday and they were very grateful.
They will be collecting dresses through the end of February so you still have plenty of time if you were considering it.
