That’s right, tonight’s the night–the Academy Awards. And it should be interesting. This year produced a crop of Oscar-worthy movies. My money’s on “Slumdog Millionaire,” but “The Wrestler” could get a few Oscars in a headlock too. And last fall’s 538 fans should be interested in Nate Silver’s Academy prognostications.
So–are you watching the Oscars tonight? Are you having a party, serving “For Your Consideration” onion dip and “Ladies and Gentlemen of the Academy” mini-quiches? Tell us your plans, post your recipes, send pictures of your party here.

Well, I’m going to an Oscar get-together with girlfriends….I’m making a fig & prosciutto flatbread and also bringing garlicy broccoli rabe & provolone for paninis. And the chocolate chunk cookies are in oven right now. And of course there will be wine (and extra exercise tomorrow).
I am wearing a beautiful blue 2 piece flannelpants outfit to the party….I look GREAT!!
Can’t wait to see Jerry Lewis recognized for his talent on & off the screen.
I just got around to seeing “Milk” last night. I thought it was a terrific movie, and although I generally don’t care for Sean Penn, I thought he gave a stellar performance. While it sounds like tonight is going to be a Slumdog sweeps night, I hope Milk at least grabs either Best Picture or Best Actor.
No way Sean Penn should have won. The Pro-gay agenda blinded Hollywood. Rourke was so much better. Penn even jokingly thanked the commie-homos. To bad it was true.
Whether Penn or Rourke was “better” is a matter of subjective opinion, but your bigotry is quite apparent.
I didn’t see the Rourke film, but thought Penn did an outstanding job in Milk. I applauded his win.
I meant to put the “commie-homo lovers” in quotations. It was Penn who used the term. I just repeated what he said in his speech. Sorry if it came out wrong.
“Milk” was a GREAT movie and Penn was amazing but because it dealt with gay rights those in Hollywood were more inclined to pick Penn (a committed leftist) over Rourke (a conservative).
Sarah Jessica Parker got my award for “Most Likely to Look Like the Front Bumper of a ’53 Cadillac.” Bodacious.
