Eight men, including three from Bloomfield, were arrested during a Wednesday night bust that officials say shut down a prescription drug ring operating in Essex and Warren counties. Prosecutors say oxycontin, a highly addictive pain killer, was the primary drug fueling the 1,000 pill-per-week business according to a report on NJ.com.
Bloomfielders Anthony Giammona, 57, and Ronald P. Richie, 45, both of Delevan Avenue and Richard Faranda, 57, of James Street, allegedly provided prescription drugs to accused ringleader Frank J. Stillo Jr. of Pohatcong. The three men were charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled and dangerous substances.

From NJ.com:

Warren County Assistant Prosecutor Tara Kirkendall said that just in the short time defendants were in police custody on the way to jail Wednesday night, some went through withdrawal and became physically ill from not having their pills.
“It is a very hard habit to kick,” she said.

Pohatcong is south of Rt 78 by the Delaware River. It’s a pretty rural area.

great, so instead of 8 guys pushing 1,000 pills (which is a lot) you will now have two teams of 8 pushing 500 each.
What happens when a big drug dealer goes bust, the smaller dealers make out really well. And they climb at a similar rate, growing into an even bigger problem. Think of it as when Microsoft was split into pieces, and built them up into a city of towers

I would love to see Santorum get the nod. Maybe then the politically comatose members of society will wake up.
