Move Over, Simon Cowell, here in Baristaville, we’re going to crown our first Montclair Idol.
In just about three weeks, judges from Montclair Art Council will take the bench over a period of three days as entertainers, comedians, and divas take to the Pine Street stage, all vying for the title of Montclair Idol.
It’s all part of a weekend extravaganza planned by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, July 17-19, featuring carnival rides, wine tasting, zeppoles and other indulgences plus a street fair with 40 vendors.
We’re helping them put out a call to aspiring musicians, singers, comedians and all types of performers to enter in the competition. The winner will get a 30-minute show on Channel 34.
Contestants perform at the festival on Friday, July 17 6-9 p.m. Semi-finals are on Saturday, 4-6 p.m., afterwards, enjoy a concert by girl group “The Shirelles” starring Shirley Alston Reeves (Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Soldier Boy).
The Montclair Idol finals take place on Sunday July 19 at 7 p.m. To enter (it’s all free), email your info to montclairidolcontest@verizon.net or call 973-746-1074.
