Brookdale Park Fireworks CANCELLED

UPDATE: The concert and fireworks in Brookdale Park have been cancelled for tonight. The Reticents concert at Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center is also cancelled.

As of 3 p.m., everything is still a go for tonight's events at Brookdale Park. Essex County's Public Information Department has a phone number you can call to check before going out tonight. Call 973-268-3500, and select option #4. A message about the status of the event will be left on this line. We'll also update if we learn of any cancellations.

Any idea if the Brookdale fireworks will be rescheduled, and if so, if the NJ Symphony Orchestra will be there?

There is NO definitive word on rescheduling for the fireworks and concert according to the County Executive's office, as of 5 pm.

I suggest they move the fireworks to an indoor location, such at the Cody Arena in West Orange (the old Devils practice arena next to the Turtle Back Zoo). The arena is owned by Essex County, so the cost to us taxpayers would be negligible.

I live on Wildwood Ave, people are walking down at 7:30. No sign at entrance. 2 days ago they took the sign down anticipating the cancellation it seems. Is Essex county park mgr bett er than Al Roker? I think not.

I was just outside for 10 minutes and got 10 mosquito bites. I don't think it would have been a good night even if the rain stopped. It's all wet and muggy and buggy. On a weirder note, I found a 2ft long snapping turtle in the middle of the street today. The town said they could do nothing with it so it's on its way to a new home in White Meadow Lake.

NJ SO has other commitments. Fireworks 7/7 at Branch Brook Park. Random fireworks not justified IMO. Hold them until the next major national holiday, such as Labor Day; or until next 7/2/10 weekend. BTW s2007, Why what?

I wait all year for the fireworks in brookdale! I think they just ruined my summer! Hopefully they will reschedule.

Nope. I live right next to brookdale on greenview Way and they are deffinitly not coming from Brookdale. Sounds like Mountainside of Jackals staduim. But neither have fireworks schedualed for tonight. so im not sure. im trying to find out though

Sounds like its coming from Mountainside park...although i cant see any flashing lights in the sky. they might be preparing for the big show on Saturday.

yeah when i looked outside it looks like it was coming from maybe little falls? But too cloudy to really see in that direction.

My guess is that they are coming from Mountainside park and they are preparing for saturday. because i couldnt see any lights at all. but they are really loud. im not sure though

I think they are coming from Cedar Grove, near the high school. I can see the lights over First Mountain from my attic window.
