MHS Gridiron Work Hard To Help Community

IMG_1534-MHS-football-carwash.jpg I got my car washed on Saturday by the Montclair Football Team. It only cost five dollars (but i donated an extra five) and wow, did these guys do a good job. The car sparkled! I spoke with Pam Reilly, the Gridiron Club’s Media Co-Chair, and she filled me in about some of the other MHS Football team’s plans.

IMG_1532.jpg Last week, the football team delivered food that they had collected during a two month (June and July) food drive to the Montclair Food Pantry. Possible new drives to benefit the community might include a used cell phone drive. Most exciting is the upcoming softball game between the football team and our local “celebrities” – Councilpeople, possibly some Board of Ed members, members of our Fire and Police depts. and more. The date and time are August 8, at 11:00 a.m. The team is waiting for confirmation of a location, and Baristanet will announce it as soon as it is finalized. This game will be a fundraiser to support the football program at the high school.

Councilwomen Weller and the Skate Park fanatics should take this article and use it as a guide for ways to accumulate money for special projects.

The football team would immeasurably help the community by not throwing their litter all over the Woodman field area. Of all the sports teams that play at Woodman, they are by far the worst at cleaning up after themselves.
Lasr season I saw a player waiting to get picked up by mom and dad throw his soda can and ice cream wrapper right in the street when a garbage can was set up less than 10 feet away.

I would love to see Santorum get the nod. Maybe then the politically comatose members of society will wake up.
