Where’s Baseball’s Mason-Dixon Line?

phillies yankees.jpgBenjamin Franklin, referring to New Jersey’s position between New York and Philadelphia, once compared it to a beer keg, tapped at both ends. And that was before any Turnpike Series. Mista Barista went out the other day to find just where in New Jersey he might find equal numbers of Yankees and Phillies fans. Here’s the report he filed for the AP.

I was hoping to avoid this tired and hackneyed expression of NJ State Loyalties…
    It’s been beaten to death.
But like the subway series, me thinks it will forever be fodder for some.
And is there really a question as to where the line is?
It depends on where your local stations are based.
If you get Philly news and stations- chances are, eventually, you will see the world through those tiny, frilly, cheese-steak stained eyes.
If you get NY stations, you are a cosmopolitan, citizen to the world and a much better person!
(As a non-Yankee hating Met fan, this is a no brainer.)

The way I see it, New Jersey has no baseball team so feel free to pick the team of your choice and haters don’t pull the proximity card out on people. This is officially not New York. You can hate the Yankees in NJ.
    Go Red Sox (next year)!

Anyone else see that guy at Port Authority this morning? Dude was wearing a Phillies jersey and cap, riding around on a motorized wheelchair-cum-scooter, with a huge amp/speaker under his knees, singing some wackadoo song about how the Phillies are going to whup the Yankees. So loud people had to hang up phones. It was a moment. Hopefully it will show up on YouTube soon.
    I’m Philadelphia-born, Yankees-converted. Today is a tough day.

Ackme, you can hate the Yankees no matter where you live. It just makes sense.

I’m a Philly girl at heart. Although I love Baristaville and always wish the Yankees well during the season, gotta go with my hometown boys today!
    Let’s go Phils! :)

If you listen to NJ 101.5 FM, you’ll know that they pride themselves as neither Philly-centric or NYC-centric. But their programming is lousy.

Red Sox Nation is alive and well in Baristaville…

“Unfortunately” the family and I are all Mets fans. This will difficult to watch, but although I never thought I’d say this, we have to root for the Yankees. The Phillies are now the Mets arch enemies much like the Braves were the past decade. Question: Is there anyway they can both lose? If anyone figures out a way for that to happen, please let us know.
Let’s go Yan. No. I just can’t bring myself say it.

I was in Chicago today and they took a poll during the break in our meeting and the Phillies won.

I would love to see Santorum get the nod. Maybe then the politically comatose members of society will wake up.
