Annie Oakley Evening Of Song And Story on Saturday

Friday, November 6, 2009

annie-oakley-visual.jpg Our good friends over at the Victorian Society have sent along this marvelous invitation. The Victorian Society in America, Northern New Jersey Chapter, will host "The Annie Oakley Cocktail Party" to benefit the Victorian Society's educational and scholarship programs. The event takes place on Saturday, November 7, from 5 - 8 PM in a historic 1880's home where Annie Oakley and her husband, Frank Butler, were frequent guests.

A festive table will be set with a lavish buffet of hors d'oeuvres, a variety of drinks and Victorian desserts. Show tunes from the musical, "Annie Get Your Gun" will be performed by Kevin Pasternak, baritone and Claire Bove, mezzo-soprano. The singers are both recent graduates of the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. Both Kevin and Claire participated in the auditioned MSU Singers and have performed at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, in St. Petersburg, Russia, and in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary as well as at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall (Lincoln Center) in New York City. Kevin, a native of West Caldwell, NJ, is a member of the Chancel Choir at the First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell, where he also works with the high school choir and operates a vocal studio. Claire is from Wanamassa, NJ, and is a longtime assistant musical leader at Saint Anselm Roman Catholic Church of Tinton Falls.

A representative of the Nutley Historical Society will bring to life stories of Annie Oakley and will present artifacts from her long career.
Tickets are $50/person. Reservations are required. The event address will be given out when reservations are made.
