The Operations Director at the Clifton Promenade, who wished to be anonymous, said that an LA Fitness will be coming to the Promenade.
The major construction that our readers have been noticing and sending tips and pictures about will also be the new home to a “Greek to Me” restaurant that already has a coming soon sign up.

Well there’s a wish that went unfulfilled, no? If one can be identified by title, is that still anonymous?

“The Operations Director at the Clifton Promenade, who wished to be anonymous”
So he wouldn’t, you know, be pegged by his employer as the source of the leak. They’d have to suspect ALL the Directors of Operations!

well there goes your “upscale lifestyle center”. What a failure.

  4. POSTED BY jerseygurl  |  November 23, 2009 @ 5:18 pm

Lifestyle center, indeed. Just another strip mall with national chain stores and a national chain restaurant and a national chain fitness center.

I wonder if there are any NJ Fitness places in California.

Another strip mall with national chain stores and a national chain restaurant and a national chain fitness center… that IS a lifestyle!

My congratulations to the Baristas for accepting the ennui of a slow news day so readily. When they could have shown some enterprise by going out in the aftermath to, say, make some effort to determine the real causes of last week’s violent incidents at MHS. Way to go, Debbie!

Op Dir “I have something to tell you but…it’s off the record.”
BN: “Absolutely. (Off the record? That’s a kooky thing to say. Oh well)…
The best way to spice up a slow news day appears to be to out an anonymous source and have a few yuks about it later on.
    Where IS the Clifton Promenade?

Ahhh, it somwhow seems a bit odd reading about goings on in Clifton. I mean, it’s not even Essex County, right? What’s happening in towns in the county we live in? The Caldwells, Maplewood, Livingston, Millburn, Verona and and … (I passed a new health spa last week in Ramsey. It looked really nice…….)

Its fine with me to hear about Clifton- its right next door to Clifton, and many of us drive past us every day on our commutes. Plus this is technically fairly close to (one of the many) Bloomfield ave.

I meant “….its right next door to Clifton” above.
BTW- I never thought it was a good idea to have a strip mall with its back to rt.3 You drive by it on Rt.3 and you say “what’s that huge beige place?” with a entrance that’s fairly hard to find from rt.3 (go through TGI Fridays)

Isn’t this the second time in a week that a certain Montclair news blog that wishes to rename anonymous has “outed” someone who wished to rename anonymous? Shame on you, seriously.

I work in PR and we tell our clients that there’s no such thing as “off the record.”

No such thing as off the record? Oh Mrs. M., I beg to differ. It’s a thriving industry.

Can anyone explain why we should care about an LA Fitness? Is there something special about this, like Trader Vic’s, which is almost universally beloved, that would warrant this breathless report, or is this just one of those advertisements Baristanet runs from time to time?

You want a (GOOD) really expensive gym in the area? Go check out LifeTime Fitness. There’s one in Berkeley Heights and another in Florham Park and they’re rumored to be coming to “somewhere in Bergen County” soon–I bet that’s why LA Fitness wants to open in the area.
Agree that the back of the mall facing Rt 3 was a really stupid idea.

Thanks MellonBrush. I’ll leave my spandex at home next time. Seriously, I have only been to the LA fitness on Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood and I’ve met some really great gay guys there. Something tells me it’s more about the location of the club than the name on the door. Considering that this one is next to a Chico’s, a Coldwater Creek and a TGIF, it will probably be better if there’s less spandex and more loose clothing with elastic waistbands.

99 percent of all people who wear spandex shouldn’t.

LA fitness hires their personal trainers out of federal prisons and halfway houses. Most are on parol for violent crimes or drug charges. If your daughter wants a personal trainer I suggest you ask for the background of the employee first.

I have been going to the LA Fitness in Parsippany for the last 7 months. The price is very modest considering all they have to offer (pool, raquetball, spin classes, basketball, a variety of other classes including yoga) monthly pricing is between $35-45 a month. I have also been working w/ a trainer since I started there and he was not on parol and neither were any of the other trainers that worked there. You really shouldn’t make such a serious statement when you have no idea what you’re talking about. Personally I’m looking forward to the LA Fitness opening, I believe it’s opening today.

I would love to see Santorum get the nod. Maybe then the politically comatose members of society will wake up.
