Thomas Lonergan, Executive Director Montclair BID takes his mission to draw people to Montclair Center very seriously. The BID's continued initiatives are instrumental in keeping Montclair Center high on the public's radar, especially during these very difficult economic times. "We're doing our best to make sure holiday shoppers spread their holiday retail dollars closer to home, outside of the suburban malls," says Lonergan.
This Thursday, November 12, more than 30 Montclair Center retailers are participating in a one day sale, 10 am to 10 pm. You'll find savings of 21 percent (10 am +10 pm +1 day) or more on select merchandise - in some cases the sale is storewide.
Lonergan has orchestrated side-walk sales, the Crane Park Festival and most recently Late Night Thursdays. The idea for a district-wide pre-holiday one-day sale in Montclair Center is a first -- and Lonergan hopes it will drum up business in the face of a predicted "lackluster" holiday season for retailers.

" select merchandise "
Does the BID think the consumer is "Retail Stupid" ?
I don't get the 21 percent gimmick. 10 am plus 10 pm plus one day? So that's a two-day sale, right? (Who thinks these things up?)
The trouble with 21 percent is it sounds like you're getting ripped off from 25 percent.
The photo is from my top favorite store, Cisco Station. In fact, as I type this comment, I'm wearing a shirt and skirt from there. Cisco has amazing sales on high-end, high quality stylish clothes. I'll definitely hit some of these stores on Thursday. Cisco first.
Have you been to Nest and Co? I see they are on the list of merchants participating in the sale. I found several excellent books on authentic color combinations and architectural details from the arts and crafts, mission and stickley styles, which are appropriate to many homes and buildings in this area.
I also bought one of my favorite vases, a reproduction in the Roseville pottery style, but a fraction of the cost of the original. It's got a matte olive green glaze, and it is shaped sort of like a sideways football with handles, and when i fill it with daffodils in the spring and put it on my mantle, it just lights up the room it looks so great.
