Police were called to Glenfield School after a rifle round was discovered in a second floor classroom on Tuesday (Dec. 15), said Lt Robert Rowan, commander of the
Juvenile Aid Bureau. The bullet was discovered by a student, who notified her teacher and the MPD was summoned by the school principal.
Officers who responded to the call said the rifle round looked like a replica of a .223 rifle cartridge. It was later confirmed to be a replica, Lt Rowan said.
The Essex County Sheriff's Department was called in, with a gun dog, to scour the school premises for further ammunition or a firearm. The search took place after school was dismissed and no other contraband items were found.
The reporting teacher later received an anonymous text message from a student, which named the student who had brought the replica bullet to school. The student and her father were contacted but no charges have been filed and the incident is still being investigated.

O.K.
What is a "replica bullet" and why is it contraband?
How does a rifle round (or a replica thereof) differ from a bullet that goes in a handgun?
Next definition please; "a gun dog"?
If the sheriff's office "scoured" the school, did they not find ANYTHING?
Lastly, how can I send anonymous text messages?
