suburbia land 2.jpgThis excellent new art space on Glenridge Avenue is opening a new show on January 28. Yes, there is going to be a splashy opening, and yes, you are all invited. Rob Greco, the Gallery U director, has chosen suburban life as the theme and it is a theme well suited to our life here in Baristaville.
And I have a piece in the show–it’s part of my parking lot series. Yes, I do love me a good suburban mall parking lot.
Please come and help to celebrate, and enjoy some beautiful and fun art at the same time. Gallery U showcases artists suffering from brain injury, but it showcases the work of a wide variety of other artists as well. The opening is this Thursday, January 28th, from 7-9 p.m. and the show will run for four weeks. Here’s a little more from the show’s organizers in the jump.

Suburbia-land is collection of works which presents each artists interpretation of Suburbia. Some are quite literal while some are more interpretive. Standing out are Gerry Visco’s colorful self-portrait pieces. Gerry’s research found that one of the most defining suburban elements was the construction of Levittown Long Island, Gerry travelled out to this planned suburban comminuty to meet with the town historians and photographed herself and some others where time stood still. Other artists include local artist Fran Pelzman, Montclair resident Naymbia, Eric Levin, Robbeyond, Robert Langdon, the Guerilla Gallery Collective, Rob Ordonez, Robert Torres, Bevely Kohn, Carmen Bury, Joe Iurato, (Germany) , R. Vita (Italy).

Gallery U is located at 179 Glenridge Avenue in Montclair. The phone number is (973) 707-1759. (Photo by Gerry Visco)

Shouldn’t it be spelled “Premieres” with a third “e?”

Isn’t this place run by brain-damaged artists?

I would love to see Santorum get the nod. Maybe then the politically comatose members of society will wake up.
