We adore this photo of the McDonald’s on Broad Street by Bloomfield Camera Club member SJStreeter, who uploaded it to the Baristanet Flickr group. Streeter also contributed the photo for this open thread on Thursday. Streeter is great with color and clearly has a sense of humor.
Meanwhile, think of this as your Saturday open thread. How are you dealing with the cold? I’ve already got a fire going in my wood stove, a treat I usually reserve for evenings. But I may tear myself away for Burgers and Bands over at Fitzgerald’s or a free massage at Karuna Shala.

Did get out for about 8 miles today. Toes took 3 miles to warm up. Eating some lunch and cuddling with the doggie before I tackle the housework.
Going to Williamsburg Brooklyn to visit my wife’s son as we’re dropping off a mirror. Then it’s off to local eatery. Brrr, gonna be cold walking around the city.
I’m here grinding it out, as usual.
Too cold for The Iceman? BRRR — THAT’S Cold!!
R.I.P. Prof. Howard Zinn
Howard Zinn has died? thank you for posting that, Paz. What a loss of an insightful and courageous historian.
Slightly off target but we were just driving home from visiting the family in Hunterdon County, and Fairfield is awash in the lights of emergency vehicles. The Pio Costa Industrial Park is burning, and Fairfield Road is closed near Hollywood Avenue, which I found out is because a Fairfield cop was shot as he approached the station to begin his shift.
Really, some of the rot that is posted here…Only the relentlessly, didactically leftist will mourn the passing of Howard Zinn.
I mean, couldn’t you folks at least find someone who as a historian had a better regard for facts as opposed to wild-eyed interpretations?
Wild eyed interpretations make US politics go round, cathar.
How else to explain Sarah Palin and her death panels?
How do you explain Sarah Palin at all?
Geoff,
Too funny but the Iceman was cold last night walking around Brooklyn in the Williamsburg section. We were on Graham st which has lots of little wine bars, sushi shops, italian, mexican et al types of cuisine. Parts of Brooklyn are now inhabited by the 20 somethings who can’t afford the Village – there is a vibrant vibe going on…too bad I’m on the down side of 60
To me, Williamburg and Greenpoint are remarkably ugly neighborhoods, with all kinds of toxic waste lurking below the surface. Brooklyn has nice places but these ain’t it.
I remember when this McD was proposed for this location. People in town were going berserk. There was consternation about potential noise levels and property values, etc.. What a stir!
Funny, now when I read posts about Dickie G’s enterprises, I think, “Money talks and BS walks..”
