Reader spots lost dog in Montclair.
Anyone lose a small, brown, male dog around 6:45 pm on March 24 near Orange Road and Porter Place? He was found roaming around in the park, with a blue halter-type collar and the halter had clearly been ripped from a leash or dog run. I had him in my fenced in yard and called the police, who sent someone from Montclair Animal Control around 8:30 pm, but by the time he got there, the dog had somehow escaped (jumped over fence perhaps). I hope he’s all right.

I know, to what end is this post?
Has anyone else been following the saga of the Downtown Coyote? The cops thought they had him trapped in SoHo yesterday afternoon, only to see him (or her) beat a retreat from beneath a parked van and escape. Today, there was as low-speed chase — also downtown — involving several cruisers, cops on foot, and a police helicopter. They finally tranquilized him sometime this afternoon. Videotape at six, I’m sure…
“I know, to what end is this post?”
Uh, to state the obvious: Maybe if someone is missing a dog that fits this description, they can contact me and I can put them in touch with the person who found him? We don’t print people’s personal email addresses and phone numbers.
I hope I cleared this up.
I hope the dog is reunited with his family soon.

Who found him and lost him again? Again to what purpose?
How come my husband’s 9-year-old granddaughter “gets it” and you don’t, ROC?
We don’t print people’s names, phone numbers or emails (unless they tell us it’s OK) at Baristanet. That is why I have myself as the contact.

MARTTA,
I think it is you and your 9 year old that doesn’t get it. The story (that YOU wrote) clearly says that someone found a dog. And then the DOG ESCAPED! So what is the point of putting them in touch with someone? That “someone” will tell the dog owners “Yes, I found your dog! But it jumped the fence”
Unless your story is wrong, it sounds like there is no dog
I don’t know why you have to be so rude about it MM.
It’s a simple question. You’ll note I have not called you stupid as you have me.
But what good would it do to know where your lost dog was temporarily and is no longer?
“But what good would it do to know where your lost dog was temporarily and is no longer?”
It would indicate to them that their dog was in the area and might be back. Most likely, he will be back for food.
The item also alerts other people in the area to be on the lookout for this dog.
To illustrate this further, last week I posted something about a lost cat that was sent to me by the owner. A woman emailed me and said she saw a cat that fit this description and to have the owner call her. The owner got in contact with her and is now canvassing the area in question.
Unfortunately, not all these stories have happy endings but I like to believe that I am helping some pet owners reunite with their pets. Sorry if you don’t feel the same way.
Anyone seen the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where Larry finds David Schwimmer’s “lost” watch only the lose it again? Great episode and rather appropriate.
Thanks for the explanation sans venom, MM.
Dear Divine Mrs. M,
Keep the faith! It’s a wonderful thing to watch out for our lost eegie peegies.
Happy Friday!
To make amends for past sins, I would like to wholeheartedly endorse anything Mrs. M. cares to post about dawgs.
You too, Kay!
In Eegedom, there are no egos!
