Bloomfield’s police blotter this past week features numerous break-ins and lots of missing jewelry.
March 28: When returning home, a Rogers Place resident noticed a rear window open in their home. The resident went upstairs to the bedrooms and found that both were ransacked. Missing at the time was a variety of jewelry.
March 25: After being a way for a couple of days, a Jersey Street resident returned home to find his apartment burglarized. The resident told police that someone entered his apartment through a window near the fire escape. Jewelry, a laptop and two digital cameras were missing.
March 24: A Thomas Street resident told police that when she returned home, she found the dead bolt lock was not set, but she remembered locking it before leaving the house. When the resident checked the house, she found the second floor was ransacked. Police found that the back door was forced open. Several pieces of jewelry and two laptops were missing when police arrived.
March 23: A Belleville Avenue resident reported that someone forced into the rear door of the apartment. Gold jewelry was reported missing.
March 22: While dining at the Family Buffet, a woman got up from her table, leaving her large black and pink purse behind. When she returned to the table, her purse was missing. Inside the purse was $300 cash, $100 in gift cards and a camera.

Sounds like Newark police blotter, Bloomfield residents need to do a better job at being more pro-active in their town.
The March 22 story seems so weird…if she was there alone, how foolish to leave your bag on the table, and if she was with her family, which one would think was the case at a Family Buffet, why wasn’t anyone watching her bag – and how could someone just walk up and take it with her family sitting right there.
Wake up people..watch what is going on around you…just be smart, and many of these stories would not happen.
Sounds like newark? Been to third ward lately?Bloomfield is circling the drain
Newark? Reads like a light week on the Montclair police blotter.
Get a grip folks!
Some of these same incidents occur in Montclair and Glen Ridge.
I looked at the following statistics for Montclair v Bloomfield
http://www.idcide.com/citydata/nj/bloomfield.htm
http://www.idcide.com/citydata/nj/montclair.htm
According to the city v. state crime rates, you are more likely to be the victim of a violent crime in Montclair, and the victim of a property crime in Bloomfield.
In GR we are lately, accosted by swarms of Jehovah witnesses every weekend. Is it because the “End of Days” is near and they consider us rich sinners?
