Busting The Bloomfield Avenue Blight

The recession has not been kind to Montclair’s central business district. The blight on Bloomfield Avenue has claimed too many storefronts far too long. Just as soon as a new business opens, it seems another one is shuttered. The most recent business to leave a gaping hole is the former Artistic Illuminations, and soon PNC Bank will be leaving 491 Bloomfield Avenue. For the neighboring businesses, it’s a worry. But the marketing arm of downtown Montclair, Montclair BID, is making it their business to put life back into these shop fronts so that Bloomfield Avenue indeed does bloom again.
