Connor Donahue, 24, formerly of Montclair, died in a tragic accident this past Sunday, March 14. According to The Daily News, Donahue fell 24 floors from his New York city apartment when his balcony railing gave way. According to some reports, the owners of Jennifer Towers at 330 East 39th Street allegedly failed to have the balcony inspected. A buildings department representative said the connection between the fencing and the post was loose or may have been damaged.
Connor, a social worker, attended elementary school in Montclair, graduated from Connecticut College, and in 2009 NYU awarded him Wagner's Fellowhip for Emerging Leaders in Public Service. He is survived by his father, Pat, his mother, Jane Donohue, of Little Falls, and sister Caroline. Baristanet extends its deepest condolences to Connor's friends and family. Connor's obituary can be found here.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 19 at 10:30am at St. Cassian's Church, 187 Bellevue Avenue, Upper Montclair, NJ. Visitation will be at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street, Montclair, NJ on Thursday from 4-8 PM.
Donations in Connor's remembrance and in lieu of flowers can be sent to Frost Valley YMCA, 2000 Frost Valley Road, Claryville, NY 12725 where a scholarship fund is being established. Please indicate "In Honor of Connor Donohue" on the donation.

I read that in the paper this morning. Very sad story. He seems like such a nice , caring young man who was looking to make a difference.
One of the saddest, most infuriating stories in a while...
My Lord....
My thoughts go out to his family and friends....
Agreed, King.... One of the worst......
horrible, just horrible.
My sympathies to his family and friends.
So young and very sad. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends
When I read stories like this one, and it seems like there are too many, I really think there is a lot of truth to the saying that "Only the good die young."
I offer condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Such a tragic loss.
This is so sad & maddening.
On the linked Daily News page, the reader comment from the Colombian girl ("spots of tea") that Connor mentored is particularly touching.
What a tragedy. My heart goes out to his family, friends and co-workers. And what a loss to society. I believe it is true that only the good die young.
