A Montclair resident is missing their cat.

One of our cats, Jessica, has escaped. She is a smallish, indoor cat, with white, black and brown markings, and a very friendly nature. She also walks with a bit of a limp in one of her hind legs. Jessica was wearing a collar with her nametag on it. We think she likely got out Tuesday or Wednesday, March 23 or 24. We live in the vicinity of Watchung and Edgemont.

UPDATE: From the owner:
Jessica appeared behind our garage about 10 minutes ago, seemingly unharmed. She is now back in the house, where she belongs. We all wonder where she has been for the last day or two, but I don’t think she is going to say. We’re very happy that she is home. Thank you for the help!

Free at last, free at last from her inattentive owners who are not sure when last seen!!!!
We aren’t sure when she got out because she has a lot of favorite sleeping spots. We didn’t know for sure that she wasn’t in the house until she didn’t make her usual Wednesday-morning appearance.
Hey–be nice, kids! It’s incredibly tough to have a loved pet get sick or go missing–go easy on the poor owners.
Isb, I hope Jessica finds her way home soon! (There was an adorable calico in the window at the PAWS shelter at Walnut and Willow this morning. However, I think she’s been there for a while and is not a recent arrival.)
I hope Jessica is reunited with her guardians soon. I would be so frantic if one of my cats was missing.
Thanks MTV, Nellie. You’re right, the calico at the shelter is not Jessica.
Jessica has been found! She wandered back to the house this afternoon. We are all very relieved.
Thanks (almost) everyone for your kind thoughts.
Great news! Thanks so much for letting us know she’s back.
Yay!! I love it when one of these lost pet stories has a happy ending! (One of mine once meant missing for a full week. When she sauntered back in and made her way to her food bowl, she seemed completely unaware of the fuss her absence has called. My best friend joked that she merely needed a week away at the spa, given that feline lives are so highly stressed…)
Happy endings such as this one make my day! Thank you so much for sharing!
