Montclair Hollow Day Care Center Celebrates 50 Years of Love

African American Day Parade June 7 2008 021.jpgWhen she founded the Historic Montclair Hollow Day Care Center in 1960, Mother Lilly Margaret Walthall Connor’s mission was to “create and stimulate love” between parents, youth and the community. Fifty years later, the nonagenarian is being honored for a half-century of dedicated work with a benefit luncheon at The Union Baptist Church in Montclair on Saturday, June 26 at noon. State Senator Nia Gill will be the guest speaker. All proceeds go to the Montclair Hollow Day Care Center.
The not for profit organization, which provides after school programs for children from low- to moderate-income families, exemplifies Ms. Connor’s belief in education. In her memoir, “A Lily Blooms: Mud Between my Toes,” the daughter of Virginia sharecroppers expresses that her achievements would have been easier if she’d had formal schooling.

For tickets ($50), contact Dr. Frank Gerard Godlewski at evermonts@aol.com or 973-735-8910 or Mother L.M. Connor, 973-783-2109.

I would love to see Santorum get the nod. Maybe then the politically comatose members of society will wake up.
