The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for most of the New York area, including Essex County, through 8 p.m. tonight (Sunday). Remain alert and stay tuned for changing weather conditions.
The American Red Cross of Montclair-Glen Ridge-Nutley just posted this explanation of weather alerts on Facebook.
Look out for:
* Dark, often greenish sky
* Wall cloud
* Large hail
* Loud roar; similar to a freight train

I’m just happy the heat and humidity are gone. A/C off and windows wide open. Yeeha!
I’ll second that.
I remember those dark greenish skies from my youth in Missouri; they were profoundly eerie. Once you’ve seen that peculiar light, you never forget it.
I was relieved not to have little munchkins running around my house when I woke up this morning.
I’ll bet you couldn’t find your ruby slippers, though.
There’s no place like Montclair…There’s no place like Montclair
