Glen Ridge resident James Kubicz had been coping with the heat with a battery powered fan and a blue ice pack. On Tuesday night, Kubicz’ house, along with others on Baldwin Street, lost power. Service didn’t come back on until 12:15 p.m. today.
Kubicz says he called PSE&G five times and received a different answer or excuse every time. “One person said a truck was on its way and should be there in two hours,” he said. “Then when we called again someone said there was no truck coming.”
Other phone calls said it would be fixed last night. Then last night turned into morning and Kubicz and the other houses remained powerless.
“They said the call center didn’t talk to the supervisor and it seemed that our requests were getting bounced around,” Kubicz said after speaking to his landlord just an hour ago who informed him his power was finally restored.
Although he is happy that the electricity is finally on, Kubicz still doesn’t understand why it took so long. “The lack of coordination between departments that a small section of the block couldn’t be fixed seemed very unorganized.”
