Skies have been so sunny over Baristaville the past few days that we were practically unaware of Hurricane Earl, bearing down on much of the east coast and possibly swiping the Jersey shore and New York tomorrow.
The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for the New York City area, including Essex County.

Earl’s timing is fairly inconsiderate, coming right at the beginning of Labor Day weekend, although the local weather forecast doesn’t look too bad. Friday travelers may be miserable, but skies are supposed to clear again by Saturday.
“Hurricanes are unpredictable, so their impact on traffic is going to be unpredictable,” says Cathleen Lewis, director of public affairs for AAA NJ Auto Club. She says that 930,000 New Jerseyans are expected to travel by car this Labor Day weekend.

Fortunately I am heading to the adirondacks for a long weekend.
Heading to AC this afternoon and should be stuck in Earl by tomorrow.
