Are you and your mutt ready to “strut” to help raise money for homeless animals on Sunday, September 26, in New York City?
Melissa Alonso, a dog trainer and close friend of our own Annette Batson, has started her own “dog pack”–TEAM TACO–and is hoping that Baristaville dog owners and their dogs will join her at Strut Your Mutt , a national fundraiser for Best Friends Animal Society programs supporting No More Homeless Pets®.
She writes:
This campaign is near and dear to my heart since my own special girl, Taco, a yellow Lab and Chihuahua mix, was roaming the streets of Mexico before we were lucky enough to find each other. On behalf of the millions of homeless animals in New York and around the globe, I’m asking you to help by joining TEAM TACO and fundraising with me, or by simply making a donation.
Your participation will help fund life-saving adoption and spay/neuter programs, rescue at-risk animals, and save animals from the misery of life in puppy mills.
The 1.8-mile walk will begin at 8:30 AM at Pier 84 at 12th Avenue and 44th Street, Manhattan.

What a wonderful event and cause. I love this picture of Melissa and the Taco (great name too!). Thank you for writing about this Martta! I just donated to Melissa’s page. Dogs rule (cats are nice too, so don’t be upset with me Nellie! I wanted to make sure that you know that I love all animals).
Thanks, Deborah. Yes, it’s a gerat cause and Taco is an adorable mutt
A yellow lab and chihuahua? I’m thinking there was some TEQUILA involved there! Dogs rule!
Mrs. M, whatever the arrangement, that chihuahua had the heart of a lion!
