Selling a house means showing it at its best — especially in this market. For many homeowners, that involves hiring a home staging company to do some quick redecorating and sprucing up. Until September 15, SOMA residents who are selling their homes but are committed to staying in the neighborhood can enter a contest to win the staging services of  Sweet Life by Design.

Owner Leah Gomberg says she wants to hear compelling stories from her SOMA neighbors explaining why they need help and what they love about the community she has called home for almost 15 years. “I know there are lots of people around who could really use a helping hand,” said Gomberg, who also holds a Master’s of Social Work. “Staging can greatly affect how quickly a house sells, and for some people that makes all the difference in the world.”

To enter, contestants must submit a brief essay or video on what draws them to the SOMA community and why they need help.

When I was a teenager back in the dark ages I thought the most romantic songs were "Don't Worry, Baby" and "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys. But my romantic life back then was more in tune with "Love Stinks" by the J. Geils Band.
