What’s Up With this Maplewood Lawn Sign?

BY  |  Thursday, Oct 28, 2010 10:39am  |  COMMENTS (30)

Is this the start of a new Spousal Appreciation Movement? Or a very public apology? They’re debating it over at Maplewood On Line. The sign is planted on the front lawn of a home on Midland Blvd near Suffolk Ave.

What do you think?

The two “PP” s are suspiciously top heavy and bulbous.

ROC might be onto something. A new “app” for loving and appreciating one’s wife? I can only imagine…

I hope the guy’s neck feels better…it’s obvious he’s been sleeping on the couch.

The two “p”s and the “y” are like that because the sign maker didn’t center the text properly from top to bottom.

I’m less curious about the story behind the sign and more disappointed that I didn’t think of this first…

Being October – Pink month- and the two PPs I wonder if it a sign of support for a wife going thru a battle with breast cancer ?

I saw it about 3 days ago. I just thought it was nice. Perhaps a bit “odd” for a personal expression to be on a large sign on a front lawn…but nothing more. I believe it’s been up about a week.

The “y” is kind of out of sync, too

Yes, Nellie, as I posted above, they are descenders and the sign-maker did not plan well–didn’t center the text (from top to bottom).

And what about that kerning?? That “e” could easily be tucked neatly under the “f”.

As for what it means, is Baristanet going to let us know?

He should have done it in all caps. He could have avoided the descenders messing up the alignment and hey, all caps would really get the point across.

Just don’t let Patch see it. They’re liable to report it as a “terroristic treat”.

“A Patch contributor called from an area laundromat to report a conversation she overheard between the proprietor and someone who’s cousin knew someone who said they saw the sign….”

Um, why don’t you just ring the door and ask him? I mean if he’s bold enough to put the sign up, he’s gotta expect questions.

I JUST WATCHED THE STORY ON CH.7
6:13PM – The husband did not appear on camera. The wife did.
“He” did not do anything “bad”, she said. He just wanted to profess his love & appreciation publicly to his wife. It’s a very nice area, many of my friends lived in that area of Maplewood. Always a good choice to buy a home there, Norfolk ans suffolj Avenues. Safe, quiet family area, very very low crime area, excellent ele. school area.

Very nice, but what an ass.

The prof has a general disdain for this kind of public display– put it on your facebook page, but on your lawn??

Must have been the first time he ever said such a nice thing.

    What’s next?

“I JUST BOUGHT MY WIFE FLOWERS”

Hey yall! Wondering if this bro is looking for an authentic experience that will express his personal brand. A bloggable moment to share love with the world (via font selection). Kinda think that he will get mad props from his “wife”. Pretty sure they will get blazed on sweet dank and get effing crazee tonite. N e ways, this act of love got my “mind jogging” with thoughts of riding chillwaves with my lady. Thinking of going to kinkos to print a conceptual art piece so my neighbors can “relate” to my fulfilling life.

    Do yall “like” you husband/wife?
    Is marriage “dead”?
Are banners the 2K10 version of myspace?
    Is facebook “over”?
Can old bros still partee with their old wives?

I think this sign should read: “Stop peeing on my lawn”

Look for a new display next week:

“I PUT UP WITH MY HUSBAND FOR TWENTY YEARS AND ALL I GOT WAS A LOUSY SIGN”

I would love to see Santorum get the nod. Maybe then the politically comatose members of society will wake up.
