You can straddle the holidays and prep for both Thanksgiving and Christmas this weekend in Baristaville. There’s also high school football playoffs, jazz politics and theater — not to mention fantastic weather.
Holiday Shopping in Maplewood
It’s starting to look a lot like December in Maplewood Village. Start your holiday shopping in Maplewood Village this Saturday, Nov. 13 and watch store fronts transform with holiday decorations. There will also be seasonal merchandise on display, wine tastings, new menu items and free holiday gift wrapping available at any participating merchants.
Some of the many shops participating from Saturday throughout December are the Village Belle on Baker Street, Perch Home on Highland Place, Shed on Baker Street and Bee & Thistle on Baker Street.
Both Glen Ridge and Montclair High School football teams have made the playoffs this year, and both have games tomorrow, Saturday Nov. 13.

The Mounties (4-4) host Ridgewood (5-3). Kickoff is 1 p.m. at Woodman Field in Montclair.
The Ridgers (10-11) host Lincoln Park (10-11) at Hurrell Field on Bloomfield Avenue. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
Montclair Academy of Dance and Laboratory of Music will hold its fall fundraiser, Reggie Workman Jazz Night on Saturday, Nov. 13, at the home of Montclair Town Council Board Member Nick Lewis, 71 South Mountain Ave.
The event will include live performance by Reggie Workman and Ensemble, hors d’oeuvres by Morso Custom Catering, wine tasting compliments of Polaner Selections wine importers and a silent auction. Auction items include a sculpture by Nora Chavoosian, handcrafted jewelry by Saundra Messinger, Photo of Reggie Workman and Count Basie, and art work of Joanna Da Toca Raines.

After a high demand for tickets for the first play at Luna Stage’s new home in West Orange, another performancehas been added of The Old Settler on this Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets to the performance held in their new theatre in the Valley ARts District can be found on their website.
A free Arts Education Open House will be open to the public on Sunday Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Montclair Public Library. Whatever your interest –from dancing to painting, or music to dramatic arts – this open house will offer you helpful information. Artists, teachers and representatives from arts organizations who provide classes in the arts to students throughout Montclair will be at the open house.

This Saturday, flashback to Montclair High School in the 1980′s. MHS ice hockey alumni from the 1980’s will face off against the school’s 1988 team — which was recently inducted into the NJ Ice Hockey Hall of Fame – to play a commemorative game, called Lars Johansson, Never Give Up. The event is a fundraiser for the scholarship fund in Johansson’s name, who played on the 1986 MHS hockey team, and will be at Clary Anderson Arena.

This Sunday, former Montclair Mayor Bob Russo invites everyone to come celebrate at Tierney’s Tavern for the 50th anniversary since President John F. Kennedy was elected into office. The event will start at 3 p.m.
