Read to the end for a ticket giveaway.

One of the most unique and compelling interpretations of the late John Lennon’s compositions comes from The John Lennon Song Project, a 7-piece ensemble created and led by Rex Fowler of Aztec Two-Step and Tom Dean of Devonsquare. Together they have produced a thoughtfully re-imagined tribute that celebrates the genius and artistry of the icon’s music. The group will perform on Friday, 12/3 at Montclair’s Outpost in the Burbs.

Like their CD Imagined, the band’s live show features superb lead singing and 3-part harmonies, plus a host of talented musicians on acoustic, electric and bass guitars, cello, violin, mandolin, accordion, chromatic harmonica and light percussion.

Special guests include legendary WFUV and satellite radio DJ Pete Fornatale and special guest Jack Petruzelli of The Fab Faux!

Baristanet has a pair of tickets for Friday’s show. To win, be the first to answer the question below, in the comment section. Please don’t enter if you can’t go.

QUESTION: The John Lennon Song Project has one female member, Alana MacDonald, who sings lead vocals. In addition to singing, what instrument does MacDonald play?

    Violin… not a fiddle… entirely different.

According to the band’s web site, MacDonald is playing the violin. Sorry mara, but baristagem is right.

Erika, you are of course entitled to give tickets out as you wish, but a violin and a fiddle are the same instrument.

OK, mara, I have discussed it with baristagem and the tickets are yours.

Not being a musician, I can’t say, though MacDonald says she plays the violin on the site, so I went with that. Either way, you get to go and watch the show. Maybe you can ask her afterwards about the distinction between the two instruments.

Please look for my email and send me your information.

    Enjoy.

Erika, I didn’t mean to take the tickets from Baristagem, he/she should go!

My kid is a strings player, so I’ve been around a lot of them over the past 10 years or so.

    Cheers,
    Mara

    Thank you, Spiro.

Those lads were so cool one could even overlook Paul wearing his pants up around his nipples like my grandda.

Any bluegrass musician knows the answer to this:

Q: What’s the difference between a violin and a fiddle?

A: You don’t spill beer on a violin.

Now that you’ve all stopped fiddling around with this, I must say it looks like a great show.

The other difference between the fiddle and the violin is a fifth of scotch…

I would love to see Santorum get the nod. Maybe then the politically comatose members of society will wake up.
