UPDATE: NJ Transit bus service will be suspended as of 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

OK, Christmas Blizzard 2010 is here! S.J. Streeter took this picture of a Glen Ridge salt truck around 12:15 p.m., just as the snowflakes were starting.

NJ Transit, meanwhile, has already announced that it will be running an “enhanced weekend schedule” Monday. Salt trucks? Nothing here in south Bloomfield. East Orange, on the other hand, had salted prior to the snow starting so half our street was still clear pavement (the EO side) and the other end was all white within minutes. Now of course it’s hopeless everywhere.

    Let me be the first.

Hey! How come my street is not plowed? And with the taxes I pay!!! Outrageous!!

One of my post-holiday to-do tasks was to buy a pair of snowshoes so that I could have a little fun (and exercise) in whatever white stuff Ol’ Man Winter was going to throw our way this season.

I think I’m going to regret not having bought them already!

According to the local CBS news site, the acting governor has just declared a State of Emergency. This should help to keep folks home and offices closed tomorrow. Below is the link:

I think this storm will be a record breaking event. The cars parked on my street sre almost completely covered with snow.

The Bloomfield “Stop ‘n Shop” was getting busy at 8:00 this morning. I made sure we had plenty of snack food to gnosh on while we look helplessly at tomorrow’s snowfall and say, “No way I’m going out into that!”.

I would love to see Santorum get the nod. Maybe then the politically comatose members of society will wake up.
