Those looking for a property under $300,000 are in luck this weekend; more than 21 of the approximately 65 houses showing are under that price point. More condos are open than last week, but offerings in that category are still pretty light.

A large backyard is among this circa 1926 Colonial’s stand-out features. The 13-room house has spacious rooms, built-ins, moldings and numerous windows typical of the period. Modern amenities include central air and a supersized stainless steel refrigerator. There’s a finished basement and two-car attached garage as well. Open house 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

178 N. Mountain Ave. is showing as well, also from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The 11-room, six bedroom Colonial is listed at $1,099,000.

Located in the Upper Wyoming section of South Orange and sitting on more than half an acre, this 10-room Tudor has lots of dark trim, beamed and cathedral ceilings, new central air, a deck, porch, a full, unfinished basement and two-car attached garage. The renovated kitchen has custom cabinets, stainless steel appliances and a breakfast nook. See it all in the virtual tour. Open house 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

20 Appleton Rd., Glen Ridge
List Price: $539,000
Taxes: $15,934

An updated kitchen and new windows are highlighted in the postings describing this ca. 1900 English Tudor. Other parts of the house are dated, however. The backyard has a garden and well water for irrigation. There’s a partially finished, full walkout basement and a two-car detached garage. A virtual tour is provided. Open house 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

629 Prospect St., Maplewood
List Price: $975,000
Taxes: $28,365
Lot Size: 0.77 Acres
7BR/5.1BA

This 15-room Colonial with brick exterior has oversized windows, hardwood floors, crown molding, central air, a room off the master bedroom that could serve as a seventh bedroom, lots of storage space, an in-ground swimming pool and numerous other attributes, including its own website. The kitchen has custom cabinets, granite countertops, a separate eating area and a staircase to the second floor. The house, which was built in 1930, is close to Tuscan Elementary School. Open house 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

43 Wells Ct., Bloomfield
List Price: $295,000
Taxes: $9,625
Lot Size: 0.13 Acres
3BR/1BA

The location of this six-room Cape Cod helps to make up for some less desirable features. The ca. 1955 hosue is located on a cul-de-sac two blocks from the Brookdale Park entrance. Other positives include a large backyard and central air. Downsides include a tiny dining room and dated family room. The house does not have a garage. Open house 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

I havw bwn in the Prospect St. house. It’s beautiful, nothing to fault.
However, most people spending THAT kind of money, want Livingston, Millburn, Short Hills (if they are buying in Essex County. Prospect Street is a major and extremely busy street, where the speed limit is 25 MPH and NObody does that! More like 35MPH …. some more. It’s also along walk to the High School. If the offspring are at least 17, then it’s okay, I guess. Then again, you have similiar homes on Ridgewood Ave in G.R. and they sell. (and) They are not selling to folks in their mid 60s and older, so there are folks with young children buying on very busy streets.
That said, she is a majectic home. I bet I could fit all 7 of my cars in the circular driveway. Would be a nice exhibit.

“5 years ago that prospect st would have selled for 1.”

Right! And ten years ago it sold for 585K. What makes you think that this costs more than 600K. Its taxes is 28K/year, it’s a busy street, mediocre schools and it would take a fortune to maintain it (heat/cool)

Have a sense of perspective. Don’t think in terms of bubble pricing. Prices should go back ten years ago if not more as the taxes went through the roof.

I'm starting to see that our political strife on this planet and definitely here on B'net is due to a lack or abundance of Oxytocin. We can't help what we do or think, our bodies, dna, etc. are running the show. We are meat puppets to our hormonal & chemical urges. In the words of the immortal Bela Lugosi...."Pull dee string, pull dee string!" PAZ in Ed Wood land.
