New Life Coming to Isabel Rose Cafe

In 2008, Montclair Public Library put out a Request for Proposals for an entrepreneur to come and take over the round, window-filled Isabel Rose Cafe space, which had long been a cafe in name only. This was how our former photo editor Fran Liscio imagined it.

Well, it’s taken three years, but this April, Terra Tea Salon will move from its current 10 Church Street location into the library cafe, where it will be called “Terra at the Isabel Rose.”

In a press release sent out yesterday, Terra said it will continue to operate at Church Street until the third week of March. The fair-trade tea shop will offer a slightly-modified menu at its new location as well as selling a wide selection of tea, coffee, chocolate, and local farm products. It also plans to continue its summer music programming.

Any bets as to what will take its place at 10 Church?

This is great! What an adorable space for Terra. So, is a tiny library moving into 10 Church? ;)

    meg,

    No THAT’S funny!

Actually, Church Street is a very desirable location. Vacancies are rare and don’t last long!

As long as Terra doesn’t require a cooktop or oven, they should do okay at the library. Prior tenants were fairly restricted by the lack of those appliances from what I heard.

@Howard Beale – You’re right. I remember there was a jazz series going on at the Isabel Rose Cafe and they couldn’t really use the cafe part for anything much. Maybe they’ve worked out changes with the codes and zoning. I’m sure Grace thought of everything. She’s sharp. Will she still be hosting live music there? That’ll be a draw!

I would love to see Santorum get the nod. Maybe then the politically comatose members of society will wake up.
