Another armed robbery occurred in Montclair last night, adding to the growing number of incidents that have plagued local businesses and kept police busy with investigations for the past few weeks. This one was said to have taken place in the parking lot behind the florist and liquor store on Orange Road.
At 8:21 p.m., BNN reported that 3 male juveniles produced a handgun and took cash proceeds. Unofficial reports say the suspects fled towards 330 Orange Road — the Congregation Of Jehovah’s Witnesses. We’ll update with information from the Montclair police as details become available.

Can’t wait until they lay off up to 12 police officers. At least South Park st. will look nice if you don’tnotice all the empty store fronts.
Since there isn’t anything yet on baristanet about the firemen that just got layoff notices, i’ll put it here. 5 firemen just got layoff notices delivered to thier home the other night. Thier last day will be March 15th. I wonder if Glenridge is aware of this and if it violates the contract they have with Montclair. I bet Bloomfield is looking into it. You can kiss that million dollars goodbye.
I guess GR should split it’s contract between Montclair & Bloomfield at this point and whoever shows up first gets paid! We gave up our fire dept to depend on our neighboring town which soon will not be very dependable! Looks like we might have to start our own volunteer fire suppression team. We can call them the “GR basement savers”. By the time they jumped off the train from NYC, that’s all that would be left!
PAZ in GRrrrrr!
