Newark Airport’s Terminal C is currently undergoing evacuations due to smoke conditions that turned into a working electrical fire, originating from a motor under the walkway. According to BNN, the Port Authority Police reported the condition at 11:02 a.m., and requested EMS on scene to evaluate multiple patients.
At 11:06 a.m., police said that 40 patients needed to be assessed for possible smoke inhalation. The NJ EMS Task Force has been activated, and the EMS director & Mass Casualty Response Unit are enroute. All civilians are currently being moved to the end of Terminal C so they will not have to be re-screened by TSA.
At 11:22 BNN reported that the incident had been upgraded from a “smoke condition” to a “working fire.” Some of the patients have been removed from the terminal, and are being treated for smoke inhalation. Additional BLS units are enroute, and the terminal is being vented.

Sitting here in New Orleans Airport waiting for our flight back to Newark. All they show up is that the flight is delayed.
Even if it lands now, it’s unlikely we’ll make the 2:15 (local time) departure. We should have been boarding about now, but there’s no plane to board.
Oh, well, if anyone knows what’s up with the planes, let us know….
Hey, it looks like there’s a plane here to board, after all.
Get those other people off, sweep it out and let me out of here.
You know how cranky I get when I don’t get my afternoon nap;-)
PS please don’t seat me next to that squeaky little boy.
They must have had a hospital tour in C with all those patients running around.
