The Thousand Pities

This weekend is all about music–good music by the local talent of Baristaville. The parties start tomorrow, Friday the 13th. Which can only mean some wild and crazy stuff will go down. I met my husband on a Friday the 13th and never looked back.

You have two rockin’ shows to choose from: The Rent Party or the Friday the 13th Rock and Comedy Fundraiser at The DLV Lounge.

The Thousand Pities features songwriter Matthew Davis, formerly of the 80s Massachusetts band The Vestrymen. In 2006 he got together with some New Jersey musicians and formed The Thousand Pities. They will perform from their debut album Believe In Sound on Friday night at The Rent Party,  the monthly benefit for the Our Lady of Sorrows in South Orange and St. Joseph’s in Maplewood food pantries. Also featuring Red Wall and 13 Scotland Road.

Montclair based band The Porchistas host the backyard BBQ at DLV and will be joined by The Micks, Black Water and comedian Rachel Butera, who will also be the MC for the night. Money raised from the party will purchase a new camera for the Porchistas videographer and photographer Hannah Wylie. Her camera was stolen.

Alice’s most recent album, her fourth, is Love Remains, an expression of a spiritual homecoming for the northern Methodist preacher’s daughter.

Another music event is a FREE benefit concert on the corner of South Fullerton and Church Street this Sunday! Starting at noon, you can here some of your favorite local bands and donate money or buy yummy home baked goods. This is the 2nd annual “Gay May Day” held by Montclair High School’s Gay/Straight Alliance, and all the proceeds go to the Ali Forney Center, a homeless shelter in New York City that give both a place to stay and emotional support to homeless LGBT youth.

Please stop by, even for just a few minutes! The line-up includes over a dozen local bands, it’s sure to be a great time!

I'm starting to see that our political strife on this planet and definitely here on B'net is due to a lack or abundance of Oxytocin. We can't help what we do or think, our bodies, dna, etc. are running the show. We are meat puppets to our hormonal & chemical urges. In the words of the immortal Bela Lugosi...."Pull dee string, pull dee string!" PAZ in Ed Wood land.
