About 136 houses are open this Sunday, the first open house weekend of summer. With attention on weather and outdoor activities comes a focus on good landscaping; houses are looking their best. This weekend is also notable for the abnormally high number of Tudors showing. It’s a buyer’s market in Baristaville, with reductions and low-cost offerings galore.

This 13-room 4,723-sq. ft. Victorian with countless details is situated on almost an acre of property and listed on historic registries. The house, built in 1897, has numerous oversized rooms, three fireplaces (in the foyer, living room and dining room), a large wraparound porch, patio and in-ground pool. Many houses claim to be a commuter’s dream but this one really is: a bus stop is at the foot of the driveway. Taxes were recently reduced by $9,000 (reflected in the above price). There is a full, unfinished basement and three car detached garage with loft storage. Open house 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

It’s not a typo – this just-listed, seven-room Colonial really is priced under $200,000, making for this week’s least expensive offering. The house has clearly been cared for but it’s not luxurious; the bathroom is small. Notable aspects include a large deck and private backyard. There is a full, unfinished walkout basement and no garage. Open house 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Recently reduced: 100 Glen Ridge Ave., Unit 10, profiled in the Apr. 10 roundup and pictured at left, was just reduced by $26,000 to $389,000.
