Racks of elegantly casual, fashion-forward clothing for women and children are now available for perusing at Montclair’s newest retail clothing story, Olea. The boutique, which opened last week, is a beautiful space, with bamboo floors and walls, and a light airy feel. Designed by NY architect David Yum to feel like a private shopping experience, the store’s niches and corners each have their own personality and style of clothing, and the store’s layout guides shoppers from section to section. The merchandise is mostly European and Asian imports that feel urban and sophisticated, yet don’t carry a high-end price tag.

“Our store was inspired by visiting Paris, where there are neighborhood shops that cater to the local community,” said Lori Bae, who owns the store with her husband Jay. “We believe in shopping local, and helping people find what they’re looking for in their own backyards. It gives them more time with their families.”

In fact, women with small children can shop for themselves and their little ones while the kids keep busy playing with the toys in one of the niches.

Bae said that what makes their inventory interesting is frequent purchasing and catering to the specific requests of their customers.

Olea is located at the Glenmont shopping center (next to Panera) at 15 Bloomfield Avenue, just on the Glen Ridge border.

  1. I love that I am shopping with wine in my hand and my kids playing blocks! I am in love with that store. I was stopped by 12 people…. I kid you not wearing that navy blue dress.
