Interesting story in today’s Montclair Times, saying that the aunt of Monica Paul, murdered at the Geyer YMCA in 2008, is asking for custody of the 8-year-old daughter whose mother, Shazmina Khan, was slain on July 4th. Paul’s cousin, 24-year-old Jessica Loradin, was a friend and co-worker of Khan. Read the full story here.
Khalid Khan, estranged husband of the victim, pleaded not guilty to the killing today.

I spoke to Mr. Elke Jefferson who owns Jefferson’s Cafe in Montclair on Maple Ave where Shazmina Khan (Mina to her friends) worked.
Her family is coming a will need our help as they have no family here in the US. Mr. Jefferson is working on a list of things that they will need (including a place to stay and legal fees) and a trust fund for the baby that will be managed by someone that does not take a percentage of whatever is donated.
Mr. Jefferson doesn’t have it all put together yet but will in a day or so.
I’ll send the information directly to baristanet and hopefully they will run a thread – if you don’t see the information posted on Baristanet in a day or so- here ids the contact information for Jefferson’s Cafe.
