Punches Thrown on Bloomfield Avenue

This just in from the Montclair police:
Arrest
On 7/26/11 at approximately 4:15 PM, police were patrolling Bloomfield Avenue when they were flagged down by a passerby who advised them that there was a fight outside Cutz and Stuff near the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and South Willow Street. As police approached the area, they observed a male, later identified as Keith Johnson, standing over a forty-six year old Montclair male. Police then observed Johnson throw approximately six or seven punches to the victim’s face. When Johnson looked up, he began to walk east on Bloomfield Avenue. Police detained Johnson and placed him under arrest. Police then attempted to speak to the victim, who did not wish to discuss the incident. The victim was transported to Mountainside Hospital for evaluation of a facial laceration. Johnson, 39, of Montclair, was charged with simple assault. He was later released.

Motor Vehicle Theft
On 7/26/11 at approximately 5:00 PM, police responded to Claremont Avenue on a report of a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim told police that she parked her Honda Civic in a parking lot on Claremont Avenue on the 24th at approximately 12:30 AM. She last saw her vehicle on the 25th at approximately 7:30 AM and discovered that the vehicle was missing on the 26th at 4:15 PM. There are no suspects at this time.

Theft
On 7/26/11 at approximately 10:05 PM, police to Brookfield Road on a report of a stolen bicycle. The victim told police that his bicycle had been stolen from his front porch sometime on the 26th between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM. The bicycle was not secured prior to the theft. The bicycle is described as a silver Specialized Crossroads with black lettering and orange trim. The bicycle is valued at $800. There are no suspects at this time.
