This morning (Tuesday), at 10:30, Chris Christie joins County Executive Joe DiVincenzo at Eagle Rock Reservation to unveil a 7,400-pound steel and concrete artifact from the World Trade Center, which has just been installed at the county’s 9/11 memorial. Tomorrow (Wednesday), at 10 a.m., a new plaque dedicated to EMS first responders will be unveiled at the same spot. And on Sunday, at 8 a.m., the county’s official remembrance will be held at the Eagle Rock Memorial. A string quartet will perform following the ceremony, until 2 p.m., and again from 5 to 9 p.m.

Gosh, if this had been put on here at like 9:00 Am ~ I would be there, rather than typing this. It says it started at 10:30 – but noe it’s 11 AM and I would not be ready to drive up there, for yet another hour.
Sandy, go tomorrow for the EMS ceremony at 10 a.m.
The former boy scout in me wants to comment that that flag should not be touching the ground.
I used to love going to this park for the view. Now the memorial always makes the park a downer. I’ll never forget that day and I don’t need the park to remind me of it. I know it’s not PC to say but I wish they hadn’t changed it.
Good to see a roundup Baristaville residents can consider attending this weekend on the 19th anniversary of the tragedy. Here are two more options:
Representatives of first reponder teams will be presented a specially crafted 40-pound brass bell, symbolic of the hope that is being lifted up at these two memorial services on Sunday: 9:30am and 11:30am by Liquid Church Montclair. The memorial service open to all families in the area (kids program being planned), will meet at John H Walker Middle School in Nutley. More details and directions can be found at http://www.liquidchurch.com/9-11
Part of the ceremony will also feature a newly commissioned song called There Is Hope, written specifically for the 10th anniversary of the WTC tragedy. We hope families will feel welcome to attend and honor those that we loved.
