Montclair Crime: Prescription Drug Arrests Near Two Schools

The latest Montclair crime includes precription drug arrests near the Deron and Bullock schools.

Vandalism to a Motor Vehicle

On 9/23/11 at approximately 3:00 PM, police received a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle that occurred on Erie Street. The victim told police that he parked his Ford pickup in a lot on the 16th at 4:30 PM. When he returned to the vehicle on the 19th at 8:00 AM, he discovered that rear window of the enclosed portion of the truck had been smashed and the wire grate behind the glass had been cut. It does not appear that entry was gained to the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.

Drug Arrest

On 9/23/11 at approximately 5:00 PM, detectives were conducting an investigation in the area of the CVS parking lot on Claremont Avenue. During that time, detectives observed two males in a Honda Civic engage in a hand exchange consistent with a drug transaction. As detectives approached the vehicle, one of the males, identified as Ernest Williams II, exited the vehicle, reached into his pocket, and threw an undetermined number of pills to the wet ground. Detectives also approached the other occupant of the vehicle and discovered that the male, identified as Kyle Murray, had three Oxycodone pills in his hand. Williams and Murray were both placed under arrest. In addition, $75 was seized from Williams as suspected proceeds from drug dealing.

Williams, 20, of Montclair, was charged with distribution of prescription legend drugs, distribution of prescription legend drugs within one thousand feet of Deron School, and hindering apprehension. Bail was set at $50,000.

Murray, 24, of West Orange, was charged with unlawful possession of prescription legend drugs. Bail was set at $2,500. Anyone wishing to report drug activity is asked to contact 973-509-4720.

Vandalism to a Motor Vehicle

On 9/24/11 at approximately 12:05 AM, police responded to Orange Road on a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle. The victim stated that had parked his Honda Odyssey in a lot and returned to find that front passenger’s side window had been broken. It does not appear that entry was gained to the vehicle. Police later spoke to a witness, who reported hearing glass break in the area approximately forty-five minutes before the victim discovered the vandalism. There are no suspects at this time.

Burglary

On 9/24/11 at approximately 8:00 AM, police responded to a multi-family residence on Orange Road on a report of a burglary. The complainant stated that on 9/23/11, he heard a noise coming from a vacant apartment. On the morning of the 24th, he discovered that the door to the vacant apartment was open.

Police were able to view surveillance video in the area which showed a black male riding a bicycle to the area of the residence on the 23rd at approximately 9:10 PM. The video shows the suspect entering the vacant apartment.

The suspect is described as a black male, last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and blue and white sneakers. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Detective Ray Gulbin at 973-509-4739.

Stolen Motor Vehicle

On 9/24/11 at approximately 11:25 AM, police responded to Hawthorne Place on a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The victim stated that his Chevrolet pickup and Suzuki dirt bike had been stolen from a nearby lot sometime between 10:00 PM on the 23rd and 11:20 AM on the 24th. The Suzuki had been in the rear of the truck, secured with a cable, prior to the theft.

Shortly thereafter, police were searching the area when they located the Chevrolet in the eastern parking lot to the Lackawanna Plaza Mall. The motorcycle was no longer in the rear of the truck, which was unoccupied at the time of its recovery. There are no suspects at this time.

Arrest
On 9/24/11 at approximately 11:45 AM, police were patrolling Bloomfield Avenue when they observed an Audi A4. A registration check revealed that registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. Police arrested the driver, later identified as Louis Martucci, after discovering that he had warrants issued by Bloomfield, with bail totaling $500. Police also located an open container of scotch whiskey in the vehicle. Martucci, 55, of Bloomfield was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended and possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.

Suspicious Activity

On 9/25/11 at approximately 2:25 AM, police responded to a multi-family residence on Claremont Avenue on a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, police spoke to the complainant, who stated that she heard a knock on her bedroom window. Police checked the area, but did not locate any suspects.

Motor Vehicle Theft

On 9/26/11 at approximately 12:35 PM, police received a report of a motor vehicle theft. The complainant stated that an employee parked a whit Ford E350 van on Grove Street on that date at approximately 12:30 PM. When he returned to the vehicle minutes later, he discovered that it had been stolen. The employee had left the key in the ignition prior to the theft. There are no suspects at this time.

Drug Arrest

As a result of an ongoing investigation, detectives learned that an individual, identified as Robert Gianetti, had been involved with the distribution of prescription legend drugs in Montclair. This operation originated out of an apartment building on Elm Street. During the course of the investigation, a detective posed as a buyer and Gianetti agreed to sell nearly $500 worth of prescription drugs.

On 9/15/11, the detective met with Gianetti and was provided with one hundred and twenty Endocet pills. Other detectives detained Gianetti and placed him under arrest. Detectives continued with the investigation and located an additional one hundred and thirty four Endocet pills and fifty-six Viagra pills from Gianetti’s residence.

Gianetti, 65, of Montclair, was charged with distribution of a prescription legend drug to an undercover officer, two counts of possession of a prescription legend drug with intent to distribute, one count of distribution of a prescription legend drug to an undercover officer within one thousand feet of Bullock School, and two counts of possession of a prescription legend drug with intent to distribute within one thousand feet of Bullock School. Bail was set at $35,000.
