Joe D. Recommends Against Trick-or-Treating

County Executive Joe DiVincenzo put out a press release this morning suggesting that families in neighborhoods hard hit in the storm find alternatives to trick or treating tonight.

“This early snowstorm, with its high winds and heavy snow, brought down a lot of trees and electrical wires. Utility companies are working hard to restore electricity and repair broken wires, but in some cases this will not be accomplished before our children go trick-or-treating,” DiVincenzo said. “Adults and children should be extra careful when they go out and should certainly avoid any homes or streets that have fallen trees or power lines. Most important is that everyone should not touch wires that are on the ground because they still might be live with electricity. Halloween is an exciting holiday for children, and we don’t want to see anyone getting hurt because they touched a live wire with their costume or hand.”

The county press release reminds residents with downed power lines to contact their utility local police department. “They should not try to move the fallen wires themselves.”

The Executive suggested parents avoid potential dangerous situations caused by the storm and find safe alternatives to celebrate Halloween.

And what would an alternative to Trick or Treat look like? Sitting around with friends and eating your own candy?

Why do I think that Joey D’s announcement will not deter the 200 plus kids who show up at my door every halloween?

From the Montclair Township website: PARENTS ARE ASKED TO LIMIT THEIR CHILDREN’S TRICK-OR-TREATING TO DAYLIGHT HOURS AND TO EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN GOING OUT FOR HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES.

I'm starting to see that our political strife on this planet and definitely here on B'net is due to a lack or abundance of Oxytocin. We can't help what we do or think, our bodies, dna, etc. are running the show. We are meat puppets to our hormonal & chemical urges. In the words of the immortal Bela Lugosi...."Pull dee string, pull dee string!" PAZ in Ed Wood land.
