A 56-year-old male pedestrian from Newark was struck in a hit-and-run accident at Bloomfield Ave. and Columbus in Bloomfield last night around 7:30 p.m. Police say a witness has described the vehicle as a black Cadillac Escalade.
According to Bloomfield Police Department’s Captain Joseph Pulido, the victim was stabilized at the scene and transferred to a Newark hospital for further treatment. Pulido has no current information on the victim’s status or the extent of his injuries at this time.
Bloomfield detectives notified the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office about the accident. Just last week, a Montclair man, Doug Williams, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Montclair.
