Elevation Burger, located at 367 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, will host a benefit for Seer Farms Animal Rescue on Tuesday, November 15, from 5 to 9 p.m. A portion of all purchases will go to Seer Farms, a 501c3, non-profit animal sanctuary that keeps animals safe and families together.

The sanctuary provides extended emergency care for animals of families that have endured a natural disaster (hurricane, flood, fire) or otherwise may need long-term care for pets because of health-related issues, foreclosures, domestic violence situations, military deployment, or other life crises.

For further information, email info@seerfarms.org.

Call me a cynic, but I’m filing a FOIA request on what exactly Elevation Burger does with those animals once they “rescue” them.

You can save even more animals by not eating burgers!

    What an utter joke.

Label on your burger: ” This animal was rescued before we ground him up “

Seer Farms doesn’t really have any actual farm animals, I don’t think. It’s more for domestic animals that have been abandoned or whose families can no longer keep them. It’s a pretty good cause. I’ll be getting the vegan burger.

Two MHS students organized this event and did a fantastic job. One of them has been a core volunteer at Seer Farms since its inception in 2009, the other volunteered for the first time this summer and decided to help raise funds.

Seer Farms helps families in crisis – people who have lost their homes due to bankruptcy, military service, domestic violence, medical issues and so on. Their goal is temporary foster care until the owner is in a situation to reclaim their owners. This is much better than giving their pet up for permanent adoption.

So, no farm animals. Mostly dogs, cats and the occasional bunny. They operate on an absolute shoestring budgets.

To those who came out tonight (some mentioned seeing this post on Baristanet) – thank you. And tremendous thanks to the two students who went above and beyond and organized a great event!

And, kudos to Elevation Burger for supporting the community. They often hold events for high school programs, including many of the Montclair high school teams. And, while Seer Farms may be located in Jackson, NJ, they serve families from all over New Jersey – including a current resident whose Montclair owner needed temporary shelter for his/her animal. I know that if I’m ever dithering between Five Guys and Elevation Burger – from now on it’s Elevation Burger!

So people read this thread and were not deterred by the numbskull posters? Maybe there is hope for humanity. Well, I’m glad that a few dumb jokes didn’t get in the way of what sounds like a successful community service. Kudos to the two MHS students et al.

I'm starting to see that our political strife on this planet and definitely here on B'net is due to a lack or abundance of Oxytocin. We can't help what we do or think, our bodies, dna, etc. are running the show. We are meat puppets to our hormonal & chemical urges. In the words of the immortal Bela Lugosi...."Pull dee string, pull dee string!" PAZ in Ed Wood land.
