Is Bob Russo Tossing His Hat in the Montclair Mayor’s Race?

Man-about-town (and former Montclair mayor) Bob Russo is hosting an event at Tierney’s Saturday afternoon to celebrate RFK’s birthday. But is that all he’s planning to do?

When he sent us the invite, we asked if he was planning to announce a mayoral bid? He said he’s “exploring Mayor, at Large Council or 2nd Ward Council…that’s the only election coming up in less than 6 months…”

This is not the first time Russo has hinted at his intentions to seek office again. In April he sent out an email to supporters saying he was setting up an exploratory committee, and in August he told Baristanet he was “still exploring the idea of running for office.”

It looks like he’s finally made up his mind. Russo said he will decide and announce whether he’s running—and if so, what for—on the 20th. The event at Tierney’s is from 3 to 5pm. Stay tuned…

The only thing Bob Russo is doing is getting people to talk about him. He’s about as narcissistic as you can get, and it mystifies me why anyone ever discusses him. Can’t everyone just let us know when he’s made a decision?

I looked at Bob’s resume. His claim is that he kept Montclair’s municipal tax increases below the cost of living during his past tenure as mayor. Would be curious to know what the BOE increases were during this time period as well as out total local levy increases. After all, he appointed the BOE during this time period. Oh, and he’s running for sure. He just knows how to play the hyperlocal media for never ending coverage. Sadly, his resume looks an awful lot like Fried’s. He’s even Bluewave. Nuff ‘said.

Farley, the fiscal conservative, was mayor when he lost re-election to Russo by like 2 votes (and one of them was cast by the town drunk). Then I blacked out for about a decade. When I awoke, Fried had replaced this guy called Remson, the economy had collapsed and the town was mired in debt.

Re-electing Russo would be a bit like the Russians resuscitating Boris Yeltsin. Aside from the practical difficulties of reanimating dead tissue, who wants to have an old corpse stomping around?

If it’s november you’ll find Bob someplace, in front of a mirror, synching up a 60′s tie and dreaming of being a Kennedy.

All Bob Russo ever does is talk about Bob Russo and what Bob Russo wants to run for next. I’ve had many conversations with the man and it always revolves around him. I don’t think he ever understood that people want politicians to listen. I’ve never met a person who is more self-agrandizing than Mr. Russo.

I'm starting to see that our political strife on this planet and definitely here on B'net is due to a lack or abundance of Oxytocin. We can't help what we do or think, our bodies, dna, etc. are running the show. We are meat puppets to our hormonal & chemical urges. In the words of the immortal Bela Lugosi...."Pull dee string, pull dee string!" PAZ in Ed Wood land.
